For the past 13 years we had Grysie and her sister Swartie as the 2 housecats. Full of love and always game for a scratch or 10. Grysie lost her one leg about 11 years ago and took at at her stride. Could run like her sister and just had a bad attitude after that. The past few weeks she wouldnt really eat and we saw she is not the same. Her sister is a fat little kitty though. Saturday we took her to the vet and the vet says it would be best to put her to sleep as she has liver disease and they cant do anything for her. The humane thing to do. Must say this was one of the hardest things we ever had to do. Wifey misses her so much. Always snuggling in between us, purring and "talking" to us. You will be missed Grysie.

sorry for your loss Oom

our "children" will always be a part of us and if you believe in such a thing, then one day I hope to be reunited with them and we can run free in wide open plains

it is sad how, just like with us, on that last day of their life you have to find out about something that they may have actually been carrying for potentially what could have been a long time

shows you how they can endure and even though it could probably be something that causes them great deal of pain, they will still come to love you and give you cuddles/kisses when you feeling kak

with us, we found that our Yorkie's heart was in such a bad state that, even if at the time we could have prolonged her life, she would have only had short to live due to it

it made us feel sad and hoped that it wasn't our fault that she had to endure it, but from our (human) perspective, her nature never changed

always happy and always moving about

🥂 TO OUR BELOVEDS

So sorry for your loss its such a huge hole to fill - I lost my 15 year old fur-kid Benjamin and his 13 year old sister Bean around 10 months ago and its still an indescribable loss - there is no easy way out - it never heals you just learn to live with the pain I think. It will hurt so don't be afraid to grieve as its part of the process. But remember there are so many older cats out there needing a loving home... so go and change their lives and maybe you will see glimpses of your kitty in them.

Dreadful news but in doing the honourable thing, you have given the kitty the ultimate kindness: sparing her from more pain. Take comfort in that.

So swartie got 2 little brothers last weekend. Now i have always been a dog person. Had 3 x Rottweilers, 2 x german shepards and a dachshund in my past 50 odd years but damn are these little rascals just too bloody precious. I must admit, now i am 100% a cat person!

We've had dogs and cats for years. Cats would sleep in the same bed as the rottweiler and the neighborhood cats would not dare challenge our kitties because the honourary dogcat was always backing them up.

Its tough but a friend always says that one has to leave for another one to have a chance at a home...

Sorry for your loss :(

Had to go through the same thing 2 weeks ago with our Jack Russel.... I still cant get over it. He was in our family for 14 years. I swear this was the hardest thing to do in my life so far. My father and mother were in tears as well. They both have lost parents and other family members over the years but they said that this was much harder to handle. I swear sometimes when I wake up I can still hear him walking around the lounge. My dad still puts water in his bowl and keeps his little bed tidy. ❤️

The 2 new rascals we got is so frikken precious. We tend to forget what is important to us. All the struggling to survive makes people forget that their loved ones (including pets) is the most important things in life. Nothing comes close to this. I adore every second i can spend with my wife, children, pets and family. Only dawned to me recently. I have been such a fool.....

I know it is corny but this has hit home for me:
To truly appreciate the light one needs to experience total darkness.

Sorry to hear about the loss of Grysie uncle Jack, My Meerkat Chappies had a companion/friend applehead chihuahua that recently also had to be put down.
It's not lekker, cherish the ones that are still with you <3

Very sorry to hear about your loss. People dont always understand that they arnt just a pet, they become like our kids. And its sad to say goodbye. Please send love to your wife and let her know that we are all sorry for the loss you both have suffered.
