Hi Everyone,
I've been trying to find a solution for a while. So my recently built rig is having a dumb issue where it cannot be put to sleep, for some reason when I put it to sleep the SSD installed on the m.2 slot on the mobo disappears which means it cannot boot into windows. When I open up the bios the ssd is missing from the boot list. However, if I restart the pc or simply shutdown then everything works as normal. So it isnt really a major issue but just silly that I cant figure out why the SSD disappears if i put it to sleep.

Hardware specs:
Auros B450 Elite Mobo
ryzen 5 2600x
evga gtx1070 sc
16gb 3000mhz
corsair cv550 psu
256gb WD nvme

Here are the 'solutions' ive tried that havent worked:
1. replace CMOS battery. (unsuccessful)
2. Change advanced power settings > sleep- 0 > hibernate. (unsuccessful).
3. update Mobo bios, I am now running the latest bios version for my board (unsuccessful).

Any advice would be highly appreciated!

Posted the last one simply because the user updated both their chipset drivers and the BIOS at the same time. Might still be helpful.

Thanks bud, but I have updated chipset drivers as well to no success. The only thing I havent done is swopping m.2 slots to the one further away from the cpu. I really hope this works as Ive tried pretty much everything at this point apart frrm buying a new ssd.

Just to avoid missing a step, since you already tried turning off hibernation.
Did you try this ?
Press Win Key + X, Power options, advanced options and select the option Turn Off Hard Disk After and set it to 0 (zero), and see if it works.

Still might be a combination of the two steps fixing it.

Those are the most active pages I could find referencing the same issue

Turn off hard disk after: 0
Sleep after: Never
Allow hybrid sleep : On
Hibernate after: Never
Allow wake timers: Disable

Those are my current settings.

I also have a feeling its got something to do with these settings.

I actually doubt its windows related, it's the easiest thing to check though.
Its strange since the BIOS also cannot see it. Telling me it is most likely not windows.

Any other slots you can try it in ?
Some people say using it as a secondary drive fixes the issue, but that only helps if you have another one to use as boot drive.

Yea so theres an available m.2 slot under the gpu that i can swop to. Will try it out tonight. I mean there is a 1tb hdd as well connected via SATA1 port that i use for game storage. But i do want my boot drive to be a ssd. If swopping ports doesnt work I will get a SATA ssd to boot from and see if that helps.

Should I mention my bios power settings? could that be the cause?

yea. Don't switch to mechanical boot drive. Please, its 2021 :ROFLMAO:
Give the settings.
Even if I cannot be of more help, someone else might get an idea when they see the configuration.

Run memtes86 and see if that helps. Fixed a sata not appearing at all

BIOS power settings as follows:

AC BACK = always off.
Power On by keyboard = disabled
power on by mouse = disabled
ErP = disabled
soft off by PWR-BTTN = Instant off
Power loading = Auto
Resume by alarm = disabled
wake up by day/week/minute/second = all set to 0
wake up by LAN = enabled
High precision event timer = enabled
CEC 2019 ready = disabled

so it kinda makes sense in the context of that thread.
But by the time the PC resumes from sleep, the PC can no longer boot into windows since the primary drive is no longer detected.

@K20DADA is it possible to change boot device after resuming from sleep without restarting the PC ?

I wonder if it would be beneficial to memtest before going to sleep and then trying to re-create the problem.

It is possible to access the bios after putting it to sleep and before restarting but the m.2 is missing from boot list so i wouldnt be able to manually select it.

Will try installing that driver. I think its hilarious that Im going through all this just to put my pc to sleep which I never do anyway LOL.
We've all been there. I have re-formatted all four my drives twice just to try fix COD MW instability which I play maybe once a year.
Had to re-download everything from drivers to games.
When you pay so much for a PC, you want it to work properly.

Yea you are right, half the joy is fighting the bugs anyway!

I'm having a similar issue with my laptop (SSD C: Drive) since reinstalling windoze... If it loses power (battery runs flat) or I sleep it the drive disappears from even the bios until I hard boot it (hold the power button in until it shuts down).

As a software dev, I 100% disagree.

Perhaps try the RST driver as well ?

Ja nee kyk even me I disagree...

I'll check it out... previously used to just install the doze and chipset drivers and bam... pc/laptop was fine... but the more they smokkel with windows the more tricky it gets.

WAAAAY back, like windows 3.1/95 you sometimes had to fiddle... then there was a nicer time in the middle where stuff just worked... now we're back at fiddly widdly to get windows running again. Although sometimes it still "just works". lol

Flipping compooters... They are SUPPOSED to be digital, either 1 or 0... and done... but I feel like they are anything between the two... 0.0001, 0.05 etc. Sometimes stuff sort of works, but only if you do things JUST RIGHT.

wellll, its technically still is all ones and zeros.
Does it work like it should or not ? :ROFLMAO:
This case its a firm zero for both of you.

Any idea how to

any idea how to load an image into the chat? trying to figure out which RST driver version i should choose.

'This system does not support' when trying that version.

the latest version is this one: should i try it or does it not apply to me.

Wont work it says its for Intel 10th gen+.
Might be that your board doesn't use a intel chip.

Have you tried installing all the drivers for your motherboard from the website?

I havent. Software scares me. Almost shat myself updating my bios. will try the drivers on the list. Any specific one on that list that you think might be the culprit?

We should have started there :ROFLMAO:
BIOS update can fuck out, thats fair, but drivers - They build it damn near idiot proof.

Install all the ones on the list, restart the PC then try again.
