Hey guys, hope someone can help me.
Currently running a Z370 board with an M.2 drive as my windows boot drive. I have a. Other ssds and 3 HDDs as well. Been using this setup for a long time now and everything has been working perfectly.
Last night I went to shut down the pc, and it didn't want to shut down, just kept coming back into windows. So I did a hard shutdown through the power button and went to bed.
Cut to this morning, powered up the pc and got the insert boot media warning and no boot into windows.
Went into the bios and only 2 of my HDDs are being detected with nothing showing in the other 3 data ports or the M.2 slot.

Any thoughts on what the issue might be?

Try resetting/clearing your bios.
Unplug PC from wall, remove cmos battery and chek in your mobo manual were to locate the clear cmos jumpers.

I have removed the cmos battery but not done the clear cmos yet, will try that - thank you.

Figured that would do it, but willing to try anything.
Just seems strange that everything was working normally and now the drive is not being detected.
I've also removed the M.2 drive and tried reinstalling it but no joy.

hey also had the problem. what I did was unplug all sata drives, put in my m.2 and install windows on it/reinstall it, then make sure its all working and then shutdown and plug my sata drives back in.

Does the M.2 drives pick up in bios but not windows?
I have an X570 Aorus Master and updated to F33j. Since updating my 2 m.2 drive detect in bios but not in Windows.
I tried rolling back to F32 and same issue.
At the same time I updated F33j, I updated windows after no update for 2months. So could also be windows?
I have a sata ssd boot drive, 2 m.2s and another sata ssd and a mechanical drive.

Ahhh the M.2 saga. I will die without figuring out my why nvme dissappears after i put the pc to sleep. Still havent found a solution (other than never putting pc to sleep). It is my windows boot drive so if i put to sleep windows doesnt boot bc drive is missing. Im thinking compatability issues so adding a sata ssd as boot drive might be solution.

In terms of your issue, check which M.2 slot you are using on your board. Whether you use the top slot or the bottom, you will lose 2 SATA ports on your board. Just check your manual to see which ports are affected.

i attached my thread below but i have yet to find a working solution.
