So over the weekend my Sapphire Radeon RX480 Nitro+ just died while playing Warframe. Just upped and died, pc still on but screens went into standby. Only power to the card is the RGB logo that lights up and cycles through the colours as usual, no fan spin or any other indication of life. Tested a different PCI-E slot on motherboard and a different pc with the same results.

I'm told by my buddy who arranged the sale for me (not on carb) that there should still be warranty on it and that it was bought at either Rectron or Corex. So is someone able to assist or point me in a direction to go? I don't have contacts at either of those places. Can provide details of the card as needed.

Someone, anyone able to help?
Just phone corex or rectron ask to speak to technical and give them the sn of your card so they can check if its on their system and what the warranty status is

That simple? Always got the impression that they only deal with re-sellers, people who have an account with them. Well at least that is my experience with Rectron from years back.

Will give it a shot, thanks @nagapie

just make sure they give you a trade/replacement and not a refund, as the owner of the company gets the bucks not you..

So far with corex rectron pinnacle and frontosa as an end user had no issues. Be civil dont throw your toys out the cot and treat it as a favour they doing you since you dont have pop.

Thanks guys. Will make sure to use my pro dealing with OEM vendors voice and not my jou mase voice when giving them a call.

Have you tested the card in another PC? It might be your PSU that's tired

Yip, tested in a different pc. Same results just the logo lights up.

Will do the warranty thing and take it from there.

So I used my pro dealing with OEM vendors voice, and the card still has warranty until end November this year. Just need to get the purchase order from the original buyer to start the RMA process.

Not a bad experience so far for my first non-OEM warranty call.

Little update on this. So the company that originally bought the gpu has closed down and the pu is not repairable, so a bit of credit with Corex looks to be the way to go. The only issue is who the credit goes to, will have to wait and see.

Well I would assume logically the credit should be passed on to you as the company no longer exists :)

Speak to them like its hot girl your trying to impress lol. The place closing down is beyond anyone's doing. Sounds like it was from the place down the road from me, Lan-something.

Yeah me too, but they need approval from their head office before they actually do it. This is turning into a exciting ride...will I get something in return or will I get screwed over. 😆

I have been, and they have been helpful so far, will just need to wait and see.

Ask if you can add bucks and buy something else.. Ive had it before with Rectron. Bought a gpu, paid in R200 bucks and got something newer and better..

I will never buy Sapphire for just this reason. I was denied a rightful RMA because I brought the card in and it wasn't in my name. Not that that's what they said, but basically if felt like a get lost, who are you. So Corex will never get anything from me. I will stick to Gigabyte, MSI, Zotac rather.

Thats wrong of them, and by the sounds of it , its internal policy, which as far as I know is not lawful.

I took a card to corex, hand delivered. No invoice, card owneded by someone else. Replaced my saphire Rx550 in 1 week. No issues

I believe so, I was mining with the card at the time, but that doesn't influence warranty.

I figure it had to do with supplies perhaps, this was at the height of the mining craze.

Still, bad taste in my mouth, so no love for them. Would rather just stay away from all manufacturers only offering 2 year warranties.

Corex always been very helpful with RMA's . One of the best suppliers out there.
Always sorted me out or made a plan .

Gah! If only I had known this, could have asked my most excellent friend @Cookie to take it in for me :ROFLMAO: . Next time though...

I sent a msi 280x back in the day to corex jhb it was near christmas and they sent the new gpu down to me before they shut shop for christmas at no cost even though i paid for it to be couriered to them. I was quite surprised as i was willing to pay for pickup. No invoice either :)

They extremely well I took a faulty evGa psu which was bought at a retailer who closed down and the tech at corex lost the hand in job number form none the less was issued a new sealed unit in 2018 :)
