Does anyone know if I can run my Oculus Rift on a media system in one room with my gaming rig doing the heavy lifting and processing in another room? i.e. Some remote desktop approach to VR?
Biggest concern obviously is it will add latency making it unplayable

Hectic, so you want to stream your gameplay over a network to another pc, then through via cable your headset...

Maybe look into some sort of online game streaming service... but even then your sensors would be plugged into the pc in the other room so how are they going to track the controllers? Someone who knows waaaaay more than me needs to take a crack at this.

I'd also be interested to know if this is feasible. I'd love run my vive off a gaming pc but play it in another room

All VR hardware plugged into “media centre” in living room (space) but processing and game running on the gaming pc in study (less space) - that’s the aim, but I doubt its feasible.

Yea I think a lot of people would love that to be doable (me included lol). Maybe shoot the guy at VD a message and tell him to get right on that cause its what the people want 🤣

Sell the rift, buy a quest. Even using shadow pc services, they still want you to have a quest. Quest will let you play wirelessly or wired.

At this rate it seems like buying a 2nd pc is the answer

So what games/experiences are you all enjoying on your VR rigs at the moment? I'm kinda sad there aren't more seated/3rd person games like Hellblade and Chronos.

Having a blast with this at the moment though, just chilled and play while lying in bed or on the couch:

Ah yeah, also just started Alyx today. Very cool.

And Skyrim VR is still a classic with plenty of mods to give it legs. I also love how it's perfectly playable from a couch with a gamepad or standing and swinging with touch controllers, no issues with height or anything.

Boneworks and Alyx are awesome, pavlov with friends is pretty cool. Eleven table tennis is also great, very close to the real thing!
Boneworks made me realize I need to take a step back and build up my vr legs. After 10mins I felt like I was gonna puke. That was a month ago....since then been slowly building up my vr legs, I'm gonna try it again. Think I've had enough of beat Saber for now. Really want to try Phantom :Covert ops. Looks interesting, u play in a canoe... and Sam fisher the crap outta stuff

If you want seated play try Subnautica (preferably a swivel chair, turning in real world rather than using controller to yaw will greatly reduce sickness)

Flip I didn't know there was a VR version, shoto I'm going to give it a go. Swivel chair.... thats freakn genius man. The poor man's Yaw Vr

I’m lucky that I don’t experience any motion sickness at all. I also played subnautica for a bit but got bored in it.

Yeah its just the walking motion... driving and standing still is fine. Even flying isn't that bad. It's much better now but I heard it just takes time so I'm gonna keep at it. Got a slightly better gpu and cpu to help things also.

Try taking ginger before. It helped me with motion sickness quite a bit. Also reduces how long you stay nauseas for after playing

No. I bought some ginger capsules as I don't like the taste of ginger. I don't think anyone eats it raw though

Hi All. PSA.

Wanted to highlight a good experience buying from a seller on bid or buy (Seller). He is currently selling VR Cover interfaces and grips locally at prices equivalent to what I paid for them on Amazon US. Pretty convenient since Amazon US is currently out of stock for VR Cover interfaces.

Highly recommend getting the interface if you haven't already. My girlfriend got so used to the interface using my Quest that when got hers she found the stock interface unbearable. I gave her my VR cover and I used stock interface. 15 minutes of stock interface later I was ordering a second VR cover from the above seller.

I can also highly recommend the Bobo VR M2 headstrap on Amazon (Bobo VR M2). For me it's even more comfortable than my DAS.

Thanks for sharing! On that note, anyone else saw this?

I ordered my quest 2 unit from amazon a few months ago and tried to place a replacement order, but they don’t ship the silicon replacements to RSA 🤦‍♂️

I don't even think it is a full interface, I think it is just a cover that goes over the foam.

Yeah Oculus pulled all their stock off of Amazon US yesterday. Seems going forward all new headsets will ship with a silicon cover. As Montezuma said it will just be a silicon cover over the existing foam one (was confirmed in the below Verge article)

Yeah, the first thing I did when I got the headset was to put a cloth cover over the foam. Foam + sweat = not fun. Also have a few El cheapo silicone covers now with the cloth cover over that so the foam is kept dry.

Also tried to get the silicone cover from Facebook initially but couldn't figure out how to get it to SA

@Wacko_ZA , @superrob and @Moemfie_ZA - just wanted to not derail the guy's sale thread much further.
The 64bg version is being replaced with a 128GB version as of 24Aug 2021 at the same price - that guy's price is too high though - you can ship the base model from Amazon for under R6k all taxes everything inclusive.
So secondhand units "should" be priced around R5000.

The Quest 2 has just been recalled for a facial interface issue (see posts above) so it will only be available from amazon again from 24 Aug.

Yes - the internal storage is only for your "on device" game library, if you want it for PC VR the small version makes zero difference.

Get it from Amazon and sommer order your cables and proper head strap from there all in one go (really, the stock head strap is garbage)

OOFFF!
