Anyone here that can help with some visa info?
We flying to Ireland through Heathrow and have a 5 hour stopover, now according to uk gov site if you leave same-day and have a connecting flight you don't need a travel visa.
Last night we couldn't get on flight as immigration stopped us as we don't have a travel visa for UK.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

What is your flight route? Do you fly via Heathrow?

OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH SHIT.

You will a uk airside transit visa. I actually cancelled my wife's flight due to this is an absolute nightmare to obtain.

I have heard of people turned around and sent home because of this. My colleague flew to Ireland very similarly to you and needed a tourist visa even though never entering UK apart from a 2 hour layover.

Direct Airside Transit visa
You might need a Direct Airside Transit visa (DATV) if you’re from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland and you:
  • will be changing flights in the UK on your way to another country
  • will not go through UK border control

Also heard the same as P P1000 said, you need a visa to breathe Heathrow air. Doesn't matter if you step onto the queens' land or not.

2nd note: you can apply for a 24 hour visa (apply today, travel tomorrow) to the UK but it costs like 15K+.

It is IMO the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

Almost like brexit?

On another note: anyone else travelling to/via the UK, the processing times have increased by quite a bit, there is no more same week application, mine took an effing month.

I can concur my colleague waited almost 30 working days. Hence the reason for me cancelling the flight and rebooking via another EU airline. To much risk of not getting it on time.

I'm sorry you jot hearing what you want. When do you fly? I cancelled my BA flight and got refunded just needed to pay 25 eur handling. Doesn't aerlingus go direct?

Weigh up options carefully as that emergency visa might cost more than the flight. All the best!

We suppose to fly last night and spend over 10 hours at the airport as they don't know what's going on, eventually they said we cant fly.
Problem is if we loose these flights we not allowed to buy any other flights from anyone as they are connecting flights and they will be out of sequence according to them
