Hi,

While surfing the net the other night, i came across details relating to the ViewSonic XG271QG 27" QHD 2560 x 1440 240Hz Gaming Monitor, on paper it does seem to look a decent buy, IPS panel as well.

What I do fine weird is that I am not able to find any reviews for this particular monitor, even the Viewsonic website has it as coming soon, but apparently this should have been released already in April. The reviews i have found are for a previous model, which got an average review. Even more odd, is that Evetech seems to be the only one locally that has this monitor on their website available for sale and with stock in hand, as per the link below.

ELITE XG271QG

Just wondering if anybody has come across this monitor and what are your thoughts on this, based on the information available on hand (in the absence of a proper review).

It’s new. Like very very new. I also can’t add it to my cart on Evetech either as I assume it hasn’t yet been properly released? I think I’m gonna sell my G7 and grab this tbh.

It comes as no surprise that they advised me they are not able to source this monitor, after querying with them on availability and providing the link they have to it on their website ...

I had a similar experience.

Dibz G7 😁
This screen would’ve slapped the G7 IMO. Especially cause of the price discrepancy as well. I was actually planning to sell it to a friend of mine who needs 32” and lives 10 mins away.

I was actually gonna consider this monitor as well, as the price vs features seems to be good value. Just a pity now that this might not come through locally.

So Wootware cant source Viewsonic at the moment, upon my query with them.

Its funny how when alternatives are provided, its the FHD ones being provided and not a QHD one...though I am guessing, its because its an IPS display, they are trying to stick to that.

To be completely honest, I have this weird theory that overseas retailers don’t want to send their best-selling and best value for money items to ZA, and when they do land here, prices are usually egregious.

The 27GN950 at approximately $1000 and the OLED C1 48” were both very fair when they were in stock, if we contrast them in terms of overseas pricing and availability.

Alienware stuff also tends to land here at fair prices, yet there’s no indication the AW2721D will. I know if I sell my Odyssey for R13k, it’s very likely to go, but it doesn’t appear that that screen or screens like the Viewsonic will ever reach us at that fair R10k price tag.

360Hz is also totally MIA. I’m super keen for all these cool new breakthroughs in tech, but again we in ZA are given fuckall. The only cool thing we can actually buy here is the sub-$2000 HOF 3080 Ti.

360hz is not worthz it 240hz is where its at, more than you will ever need, im currently rocking a alienware Aw2721d 240hz 1440p, took a chunk out of my wallet but, absolutely worth it for my 3080 ftw
