What is the best free Video Editing software for putting together some gaming clips?
We have quite a few youtubers on here, so thought this be the best place to ask.

Hey Flex, It all depends on how much effort you wanting to put into learning.. I am a full time professional editor and the most powerful and effective free editor I can recommend would be DaVinci Resolve. There is a free version available that has some limitations, though most of the editors (especially for gaming clips) use premiere pro which is paid for and combine that with after effects to make things fancy.

I enjoy learning how to use new software.
I would just like to do some small cool stuff like slo mo, add music add clips together and so on

If you don't want to go down the pirate rabbit hole then davinci resolve is definitely the best free software out there... I use the paid for software at work all the time, the fact that there is a free version of this programme is insane actually :)

Resolve is amazing, I use it for doing product tutorials for work and for a few gaming clips every now and then, when you get familiar with the shortcuts and the interface it is just absolutely awesome. check out this guys channel for tutorials:

I would personally avoid Sony vegas... just speaking from a professional stand point, if you are going to learn an editing software rather learn one that can maybe be your job one day if you enjoy it enough. Premiere Pro, after effects and resolve are all industry standards these days.

They also cost an arm and a leg if you are going to be doing simple things like video clip edits.

Reasons why ?

Sony Vegas is known as more of an entry level app when it comes to video editing, I learnt it when I was still a teen and for some reason it is extremely frowned apon when using it in the industry.. mainly because of its lack of integration with other software like resolve and after effects, as well as its lack of native codec support with things like raw codecs with certain cameras.. Resolve is free and wayyy more powerful than almost all the other software when it comes to editing, colour grading and sound design.
