As per the title, Metrofibre has moved their 1st points of contact to AI agents.
For the past 3 days peeps in my area have had spotty connections, less than 5mbps upload speeds, dropped pings and generally unusable internet.
I logged a ticket yesterday and it was resolved.
But it happened again this morning at 9am amd was only resolved at, 1pm.

During this time

  1. I called in,
  2. tried their facebook chat,
  3. tried their whatsapp support chat,
  4. logged a ticket on their website,
  5. logged a ticket in the client portal,
  6. messaged on Twitter,
  7. sents emails to their support mailbox
but I could not get through to a human.
Im not going pay a thousand a month and have to put in that much effort so my son can study and submit his assignments on a saturday.
/rant over, which ISP is decent to use?
Is afrihost still good? I see theyre only a few rands more expensive on the 250/250 lines

If you're using their infrastructure, you're still outta luck.

Afrihost is great though, however.
I unfortunately cant move off their infrastructure, just looking for a new ISP.
I was on afrihost back in ADSL times and had great service. Glad to hear they're still good.

I 2nd Afrihost, been with them forever and service is always great.

If it's the MF infrastructure it will make no difference who your ISP is.

Also - don't kid yourself into thinking Afrihost/Webafrica/most ISP's don't use AI as the first point of contact. That experience is unlikely to change / improve no matter which ISP you choose.

Believe it or not, CellC. I've been with them for years, had a serious issue only once when they moved to a new billing system.
Connections have been up >99.9% of the time.
And we have proactive comms when something is wrong.

Also, phone lines are manned by actual humans.

@moedeez
Is MFN the only infrastructure provider in your area?
If no, chances are that you will site with the same issue if you can't change the underlying issue.
Not saying changing won't help but if it is an infrastructure issue, which it normally is, changing ISP is not going to make a difference.

I do know MFN has had a lot of issue in recent times with certain area's.

Also, most ISP's are moving towards AI for first line support.

All the best!

I have Mweb... When signing it, it made me think back to dial up days!

No real issues and I have had trouble about 5 times in roughly 6 years, maybe more.

Vuma screwed up my pavement so I refused to go directly with them, I know stubborn, so the first deal that popped up when the lines went active I grabbed.

I have the option now to use Vuma or 5G infrastructure. I guess Vuma has not been bad, bar my messed up pavement.

No it isnt, but its the only one available in our complex AFAIK. I'll have to check. The alternative might be vuma but I believe I'm too far into the complex for them to run a cable and MFN has already run underground trunking

Thanks dude.

Dankie. I understand it may be a losing battle. But id rather try than just back and accept it.

If you in a complex, then 99.99% chance that they have sole rights.
Couldn't hurt to check Vuma's website though.

You had an issue - it was resolved the same day (on a Saturday) - wow terrible service.
4th day in a row with the same issue.
Very amazing service. So many dropped packets. Such slow upload speed.
Id have used the doge meme format for this if i had proper internet.

Glad you felt the need to answer me twice, hope it resolved your issue

I'm not a fan of CellC but have noticed the CFibre folk are more responsive to queries. Have very little downtime on my fibre connection which is why I have stuck with them (I'm on monthly to month now).

My CellC experiences have been terrible though.

They had an office in my work building. I kakked all over them in a branch just down from the office.

A guy from CellC came over to me later to tell me I was right to kak on them but I think he might have stepped in because he knew I was two floors away from making it a bigger issue than any of them would have liked. 🤣

Try to get a TEST account at another ISP (I know Afrihost gives you like 1 Gig accounts via the portal).. Try the Other Forums etc.
As other say, if it is an infrastructure issue then changing ISPs will not always help.

Is your current issue an FNO or ISP issue?, if its FNO then it won't change much though some ISP's are better at pushing the FNO to rectify. Which ISP are you currently with?

Webafrica went from hero to absolute poes kak.

Sorry for the language, but they’re straight-up trash. The service is next-level garbage the kind that makes you want to set your house on fire.
If I ever drive past one of their offices and see that logo… I’m walking in and rearranging someone’s dental plan.

#Apologies

I'm on Cool Ideas. They are one of the two ISPs with a massive presence on the MyBroadband Forum (own forum sections and dedicated feedback threads).

In addition to the normal reps on the feedback thread, their co-owner Paul (PBCool) is regularly on their feedback thread assisting.

You won't find better customer service.

It's an FNO issue, I should have specified that as other people in my area with different ISP's have had the exact same issue.

MFN is FNO and ISP
I know switching ISP won't help a FNO issue, but I am just exhausted from jumping though so many hoops just to raise an issue and get feedback.
Which is why I want to switch ISP's.
It won't fix a FNO issue but I just want to make my life easier when trying to raise issues.

I'm in a complex so I haven't checked yet if I can use Vumatell as they are the only alternative in my area.

+1

I had issues with metrofibre direct and moving to another isp solved it.

Use ping plotter and see where the issue is, sometimes it could be the infrastructure like others mentioned above, but it could be the routing thereafter too.
