USELESS South African Customs (and FedEx)!?

Anyone ordered anything from Amazon recently and know what is the approximate lead time for it to clear customs? Phoned them this morning and "it is being checked/ cleared" blah blah. They say between 3-5 working days.

Just wanted to hear from experience here. (pre-covid was a different ball game)

Only regular importers require a customs code. Couriers like Fedex, DHL import under their own customs code.

I use Aramex Global Shopper and I have never had a problem, really quick to. the prices are good depending on what you re shipping but they communicate very well if there is an issue

@heinreich We've had 3 orders come through (+-R8k each) during covid and it's been peachy.

We've received it within 2 weeks. Once within a week. It was faster than our Takealot delivery that time.

Coolios. It shipped Monday last week and arrived on Sunday evening in Joburg. So I know the only holdup now is the customs clearance. Pre-covid my orders through Amazon were often on par or faster than my Takealot orders. So just wondering if someone spilled glue at customs for them to take longer than in the past....

I have CUD to kill :/

Oh wait, no.

That's them sending the customs papers in before the shipment arrives. So it'll show as being in Kempton or somewhere but it still needs to come into the country.
