Hi guys so i need some help please

I received a laptop this morning of a very important client.

Long story short

Windows 10 wont boot it keeps trying automatic repair to no prevail
I tried to do the bootrec /scan commands and repair etc. it does not detect the drive due to bitlocker
I tried with hirense boot cd and still does not pickup the drive to run anysort of repair
I tried putting the m.2 in external casing it does pickup but wants to reinitialze the disk (this is not an option)

Is there any kind of bootable software i could try to run somesort of repair that bypasses the bitlocker or somehow i could disable the bitlocker

Sorry for the spelling and gramar this is rather urgent

Thanks gents

If it's an environment running Active Directory there may be a backup of the Bitlocker key. Easiest way would be to unlock and disable Bitlocker, then have at it.

if by some chance you also use Microsoft account to log into the laptop/computer, the recovery key might be saved in the cloud in your ms account, but will really depend on who enabled it as the key would be in their MS account.

so best is to try get into advanced options after it fails the auto repair and get to command and unlock the drive and see if that helps, but you will need the recovery code.

sometimes I have had a drive that was locked work on another pc to boot. even laptop drive into a pc has worked

Do you know if the customer had actually enabled bitlocker before the os crash ?

Had a scare with a customer of mine a few weeks ago, no bitlocker enabled because i setup the machine only does emails and nothing else, however after a windows update the laptop wanted a bitlocker encryption key.

turns out i had to do a bios reset and enable secure boot and the laptop booted up without an issue and no bitlocker key required

Ok so i finally got access to the drive fuck knows how...

I installed the m.2 in my own pc and it did not pickup in the bios...
I then tried to run HBCD and for some reason the drive showed up on my pc in hirense

I was able to run a backup of the files the client wanted after awhile af trying to access the Drive

after this i tried to repair drive no prevail then i tried to format drive to clean install windows, yet the drive did not pickup in windows or bios

I then tried to reinitialze the drive with partition wizard and with no success either so it seems to me the drive is dead

as for knowing if the drive was encrypted with bitlocker i am still not 100% sure as the client is also not sure if he encrypted it or not

the m.2 was purchased at evetech so yeah not my problem anymore..................

Thanks for everyones input

enjoy the rest of the evening gents

If you randomly got access then the drive was definitely not encrypted.

1) Make sure proper local & offsite backups are made daily. Then you can just draw from that & not go through all of this crap.
2) Make device images 2x weekly.
