In need of some advice on upgrading an old dual core pc with specs as follows:
Pentium E5300
2gb ddr2
G41 mobo
2 x 250gb 7200rpm
hd5450

Bought the whole pc for the bargain price of R250. Looking to upgrade and using it as a cheap media pc at the TV, mostly youtube and kodi.

What do you think will be the most sensible upgrade:

1- Core 2 quad + extra 2gb ram
2- 120gb ssd

Don't want to do both as the price would near that of a Mi Box or something I could have got instead.

If its a media box I think the extra 2gb ram will be beneficial, I would go for the ssd and ram and wait on the processor

I would say CPU and RAM first. I`m no expert but when I look at my resource monitor while streaming, the memory and CPU usage increases by up to 50% and my HDD usage sits at around 5%. I don`t have a GPU though.

CPU=Q6600 Core2 Quad on a G31 MB.
Memory = 4GB Kingston.
HDD = Seagate 500GB 7200RPM.

What's the benefit of building a big, relatively power hungry PC for R250 + the cost of a CPU, RAM and SSD when you could buy a Mi TV box that comes with warranty for +-R1k?
