Hello everybody :)

I thought I'd post my progress so far in the quest for MOAR.

Basically, my setup before:

  • 1 x 280mm Radiator.
  • 2 x 120mm SP Fans in Push only (The HAF XB allows the use of 120mm fans on the 140mm fan's bracket)
  • XSPC Raystorm CPU Block.
  • XSPC Bayres Pump.

What I am using to upgrade:

  • Upgrading the two 120mm SP Fans to 140mm SP Fans...then adding another 2 of them so that I have Push/Pull across the whole Radiator.
  • Adding a second Radiator - a 120mm.
  • Putting two new 120mm SP fans on the 120mm Radiator.
  • All the relevant plumbing that goes with it.

The main reason behind doing all this was that with my CPU OC'd to 5Ghz, I was getting a max temp of 57 degrees C which is a wonderful temp but I saw the opportunity to improve the loop and so...well...CUD.

After removing the old SP120 fans, I mocked up the whole setup so that I could figure out in which order I should do things:

Clearance concerns...

Planning the plumbing and figuring out just how to squeeze the tubes between the PSU and HDD's...

if I am thinking clearly, if you wanted better performance, you would be better off either looking for other fans, or just get AF140s

Not sure how I attached that thumbnail there... anyway...

Here is another angle of the clearance I was worried about between the 120mm Rad and the MOBO heatsinks...

Something to consider when getting a bigger PSU in my case (especially when doing W/C) is that space is very limited behind the PSU and the HDD's.

I actually could not remove the MOBO tray with both rads in place so I had to add the mobo to the tray separately...

Slight change of plan here...as well as a screw I haven't been able to fit yet...I'll probably use a piece from my socket set to screw it in.

Cable managing this was tight, really tight!

And that is it for now!

I actually managed to finish this last night so I will post some more pics tomorrow, or even tonight - it's looking super sweet!
I will include the (big) temp drops I experienced as well :D

Thanks for reading.

AF140's dont have the Static Pressure that the SP140's have, seeing as they will be mounted directly to radiators. AF's are also not good at being as quiet when mounted right up against something - in my experience.

140m isnt a really common size hence why 140mm and 280mm rads tend to be avoided
there are sp140 led fans though but sp120 performance is better

I just broke apart my HAF XB loop. I thought I was the only loon building a loop in one of these :)
