I'm having quite an annoying issue. An unxpected shut down with blue screen.
Error log that comes up is KERNEL POWER- CRITICAL.
This only happening when I'm playing games and only happening after i had an window update failed.
Core temp cpu dont exceed 75deg with 1hr stress test at 4.5ghz with Aida64. (no shut down)
Furmark GPU stress test at 2560x1440 for 1hr (no shut down)

Mobo - Asus P8Z67V Pro
Cpu - 2500k (4.2ghz) with 212 cooler
Gpu - FXF - RX 580 8gb
Ram - 8gb 2133mhz
PSU - 550w Coolermaster
500ssd, 1tb hdd & 500gb hdd

Any Solutions?

My guess is that CM has had enough of being in charge of that PC if it's as old as the 2500K.

I had the same problem a while back.
I had to replace my PSU if I remember correctly

Process of elimination will be your next step to test components. Start with software first, reinstall software and even OS perhaps.
Then hardware.

Download Bluescreen view and see what exactly is causing it.

Oeeh oeh, now that you mention it. I might be thinking of another time that I had to replace PSU. I think a certain Windows update did indeed cause the Kernel Error. Had to roll back.

No. Pretty sure you were correct with PSU. The 550Ws from CM weren't stellar in the days of Sandybridge and if this one has been doing service since then it's definitely close to being done if this isn't it's retirement announcement.

You would probably find if you kill the OC, which would reduce power draw, that the crashing will stop.

I will try and see if I can perhaps find a thread. Sure I made one about it, but 90% sure that it was a wonky W10 update that caused the same issue on my side.
But as with many of these issues there might be more than one thing causing an issue.
Process of elimination would be the best way to go if nothing found on google

So what happened so far.
I tried again after 1903 update and yet again it crashed. I removed clock then all was first fine gamed for 3hrs with no issues.

I did a bios update and redid the clock to 4.5ghz and all it fine. Was jamming for 2hrs. No issues.

Could of being one of the settings I did wrong in bios that was causing the crash.

Could be....but I'd still keep a very wary eye on that PSU.

CPU vCore? Have you tried replicating the issue in another user profile?

Ok. So on Saturday after jamming for 1,5 hrs on ACC it crashed again. Reduced clock to 4.2ghz and added another 4gb ram stick and had no issues. Noticed something after yesterday start up, the frames has dropped to low 40 and was very inconsistent. So irritated right now. Will do a fresh windows install tonight and let you guys know.

Log the times of the crash (sync phone/watch & pc) ; look in Event Viewer (Win Logs -> Application, aswell as, System). Look for warnings / critical issues in the minute before the actual shutdown . Compare these to previous logs.

Sorry if I missed it but have you tried a new user account?

99.999999999999% its the PSU.
PSU's have limited life spans. The more you stress them the sooner they start to die.
Also that overclock uses waay more poowah vs stock clocks. If you run stock 2500K clocks and you dont get blue screen its PSU dying.
