I have purchased the beginning of a Hikvision IP camera set up that I will be planning to install all around my property.

I am beginning with just one camera out on the front of my property and I will build on to it.

I am running into an issue where my Hikvision NVR is not picking up my Hikvision IP camera at all.

The NVR is the Hikvision 4CH NVR with built in POE ports. (No POE switch in use)

The system should be plug and play but I have tried several fixes and my IP camera is just not coming up through my NVR.

Any one able to assist?

Regards

Thats very strange, network cable fine? Try a patch lead by the NVR. If that does not work, reset both the camera and NVR to factory default.

I have tried to factory reset both still with the same issue. Have tried multiple network cables.

I was thinking it was maybe an IP issue although have done what I can there with no luck.

I purchased the NVR on Gumtree. Maybe that has a fault?

As far as I understand it should be plug and play.

When dealing with Hikvision cameras, SADPTool is your friend.

Install the program on your PC, fire it up, and it will find any and all Hikvision cameras on your local network (even if they are in a different subnet). Not sure if it finds NVR units though, never had one.

Once it finds a Hikvision cam, you can change its IP address and other basic settings and off you go.

Ok so I presume the NVR and the camera itself should both have IP addresses in the same range?

(That may be a stupid question. Networking is not my strong point.)

SADP tool picks up my NVR but not my camera.

So I have been accessing it via IP address in the web browser to change settings.

That is very unusual - if SADP is not seeing it, it is possible that it is not a Hikvision product. However, since you are able to access the IP cam via its IP address, then just change its IP address to where you want it to be, and you should be good.

What IP camera model is it, btw? A slight possibility is that it has old firmware (and that this is why it is not being recognized by either the SADPTool or the NVR - again, highly unlikely), but start by manually setting the IP address of the cam, and/or checking its firmware.

Thanks guys. I sorted the issue.

For interest sake; on SADP tool, the IP cameras do not ever come up separate to the NVR when using the Hikvision NVR's with built in POE. When using a POE switch, yes.

I appreciate all the input.
