Hi Carbs! Story time:
We came back from holiday (just the four days over Christmas weekend) to find that the lightning had its way with most of the electronics in our house. Outsurance have normally been great but a few factors like stock shortages on GPU's and the first bad claims broker I've had meant that I only got my replacement PC today.
I had an I7-3970X and a Gigabyte waterforce 1080 (the one with the AIO loop) and I was really worried that they would just say that the machine was old and they would replace it with something of a similar value. Needless to say I had nothing to worry about because they came though in a big way:
I Got:
An Intel I7-8700K.
A Z370 Aorus Gaming 7.
Two 16 GB Vengeance LPX DDR4 2400Mhz ram modules.
A Corsair HX1000i PSU
A Coolermaster Mastercase 6 Pro
And here is the kicker: A Gigabyte Aorus 1080 TI Xtreme edition water blocked GPU (thats all that was on stock as the mining community keeps buying cards)
So I am "forced" into building a custom water cooling loop! This is something that I have always wanted to do but never had the machine to really warrant the cost and effort. I am giddy AF and just waiting for the last few water cooling components to arrive.
At first I thought I would just run a flexible tube loop for the GPU and run the CPU on an AIO that I had floating around but that changed into a full hardline CPU and GPU loop!
I'll update this thread with as soon as I start building! If anyone has any advice it'll be greatly appreciated. I have been watching youtube videos to get up to speed with the pipe bending etc.
As far as water cooling components go I already got:
An XSPC 280mm RAD from Killer_Inc
Another XSPC 280mm RAD, Swiftec D5 Vario Pump and a Barrow color 120MM65MM LFPG65-V3 from andrem (thanks for all the help on Sunday)
Now I await fittings, pipes, pipe bending tool, pump top (for hardline fittings) and fans from Rectron and Titan-Ice. Me and Dragon will start building the machine tomorrow and I CANNOT FLIPPING WAIT!!!!
