Ok guys so it's that time again where I need to build something new.

I'm sure everyone knows that Rage is coming to CPT this year, which has got all us Capetonians pretty excited.
To celebrate this I am once again working with ASUS on a new build that will be displayed at there stand.

I decided to change things up again with this build, using an existing "chassis" (not really a chassis, but it's a case of some sort :p) to do a Fallout 4 based build.
The project is in it's infancy. But I will update as things progress.

As a little teaser.....
Here's the "chassis" that will be used :p

I'm also thinking about some different names for the build and could use some help so feel free to comment :)

see, now this is just a "being mean" kind of post :(

building for RAGE, but posting now?

torturing us souls just knowing it is being done

EVOL I TELL YOU!!!!

Keep it simple, name it something like "The Vault" or "Vault 111" or similar. Seeing as it's going to be ITX, maybe "Micro-Vault" or "Nano-Vault" or "Mini-Vault". Oh and the name could read like this "Fallout: The Vault" or "Fallout 4: Vault 111". Just some ideas.

If you pay for the components up front :p then you can choose whats in it :p

I would call it the 'Geiger counter'.
Also, get the MSi afterburner phone app and put a phone in the pip-boy, so you can see the system temps etc in the pip-boy.

Good luck with the build :)

Asus Vault (Because you're building with Asus)

Dogmeats Kennel

Mega Diamond City Stadium (Mixture of 3 and 4) hahaha

Ok boys..... A little update.

So far ASUS has organized a Maximus 7 Impact, we're currently in discussion about a number of different cards, but I'll let you all know in dew time.
I've also started the layout of the mb backplate, and will post a bit about that soon.
The stand that will house the watercooling is also underway.
Finally, I got the airbrush out and have started some mock designs for the exterior :p

Stay tuned for updates!

Megaton maybe?

I'm assuming you're using an Impact board? Hit me up if you find a Z170, I'm desperate for one.

It's tough finding 8's...... and someone may have 'misplaced' the sample one..... which is why I got the 7 instead

Trust me, I know. I'd be surprised if every retailer doesn't refer to me as "that crazy Impact dude", because I've been hounding them all for the last 2 months. No stock at all in SA.

Best ETA I've managed to get is "late Jan".

Hahahaha. First world problems.... well you can order the full cover waterblock so long :p

Ok guys.... So its been a long wait to get things underway properly. Had a lot of small things to sort out before I could start with the bigger parts of the build.

So first of all lets start with what will be going in this little power house.

Main Components

Mobo: Got a lovely Maximus 7 Impact, Massive thanks to ASUS for this one!
CPU: i5 4790k, big shout-out to CUDFusion for sponsoring the cpu!
Ram: 2x4gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 1600mhz CL7
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro OEM 256gb
HDD: WD 1tb Black
GPU: Still waiting to here from ASUS, but we looking at the GTX960/GTX970 mini (A little birdy told me it will probably be the 970 :p)
PSU: Once again still waiting to here from possible sponsor, but otherwise a EVGA Supernova G2 750w
Sleeving: MDPC-X Yellow and Aquamarine (Both UV Reactive)

Watercooling:

CPU Block: Swiftech Apogee HD Black
Radiator 1: XSPC 360mm
Radiator 2: Black Ice 120mm
Res: Koolance 100mm Tube with D5 conversion
Pump: D5
Fittings: Primochill Ghost Rigid Fittings Black
Fluid: EK UV Green
Lighting: UV

The Plan

Ok so now that we got the parts out of the way.... here's what I got planned.

Firstly the case is tiny..... Like really tiny. Size wise I can just barely fit the m-itx gpus and that really is saying something.
So what I have decided to do is have a base that the Pip-Boy chassis would stand on. This base would contain both radiators as well as the powersupply, allowing the rest of the build to look neat.

Deciding on a base was one of the things that took the longest. I thought about using wood, or steel to build a case. But eventually I came up with the idea of using an old steel ammo crate. I believe its the ideal base for the build. It goes perfectly with the Fallout theme of searching the wasteland for stimpacks and ammo, often finding them in old military crates.

Next I decided that I want to bring some yellow and blue into the build, similar to the colors found on a vault suite. I decided to do this by airbrushing both the Dominator heatsinks and the Cpu waterblock. To match this I order sleeving that will really make the colors pop.

I decided on UV green fluid to represent the radioactive water in fallout, with the reservoir representing the water purification plant in Fallout 3.

So now with everything planned the build can finally begin.

So here are some pics guys.

Some quick snaps of the board

A mess of goodies :p

That board.. so lucky.. we still waiting for a ETA of when you can get it in SA..

OK guys. So a quick update. Just waiting on some watercooling goodies. As well as that sexy mdpcx sleeve to arrive. Then I'll get some snaps with my proper camera so that Off-The-Chart can go mad

Decided to check the progress on this and I have to say AztekSA you butchered that liverpool squad, it hurts my soul to see what you did there, you should just delete that save and start again. Oh and nice work on the pc so far, that ram looks good, matching sleeved cables coming in? Random thought but if you have a fallout bobble head maybe throw him in there next to the gpu?

Case-Labs purchase for MDPC?

ja, I need a good "go mad" session although I am not sure if I can manage after V-Day :(

:p

you really need to try a DDC or even that new Revo D5 pump in tiny build like this
