The perpetual mouse thread

I shall respond to this just now, but I have read all the current comments.

Lots to catch up on here...

I have always been a heavy handed user. So I used to choose heavier and studier woman, erm mice.

Recently I tried some cheapo, super light and flimsy Gigabyte mouse and fell in love. I then purchased a G502 and couldn't have been happier.I added some of the included weights and the weight and comfort is now perfect for those flicks and one taps.

This is obviously one of those threads where most things we say are extremely subjective...

My belief is that there is a point where a lighter mouse adds nothing to the equation, except for a number on paper. For example, I would wager that most people would not be able to tell the difference between something that weights 60g vs 72g. The difference is too small to be discernible. Near impossible without an A/B test. That metric is way too small to crown an 'improvement'.

What factors should we use in the 'perfect mouse equation'?

Comfort/Weight/Functionality/Cost ?

You need to get acquainted with the Endgame Gear XM1. Not Sure how your giant paws will do with the shallow shape. But it's the only ultra light-weight for people with a fear of holes.

Who would you contact in ZA to get your hands on a Vulcan? No one has stock, no one is willing to bring stock in. Only way to get it at the moment is to import it yourself. RiP R4k. (Not that the board is worth even CLOSE to that amount.)

TVR Tuscan

Yes they are the local distributor for Roccat. Get in touch with them?

A question to those of you own the mouses with holes in them, are you not concerned with bacteria and cleaning?

Seems like a breeding ground for bacteria and rather tricky to clean properly. My main push factor at the moment.

I'm more concerned with said grime shorting out something internally actually. Time will tell.

That's what Siltech was doing.
And regardless it's been months and no stock, so if they are in fact still distributing Roccat they're doing pisspoor job.

I can only hope you are correct and they are still distributing Roccat but were just concerned there might be a Turtle Beach re-brand and waited to see how that played out.

Ahhhhh ok. Sorry I didn't know that he was trying that. My apologies @SILTECH786 .

Yeah I know they are the distributor for Roccat, as for the Turtle Beach re-brand, I haven't a clue. If I check the online stores, it still looks pretty much like Roccat to me.

TVR staff in general need to be rehired they cant give a damn about customer service nor lack of product knowledge thereof it amazes me that they are still working at said company

Razer, turtle beach, trust etc are being distributed via apex interactive and their pricing is worst then evetech trust me its simply not funny anymore.

Yeah I know but Turtle Beach did just buy them which may have caused a shake-up wait and see approach with everyone. I can only hope its that and not something more dire. Maybe then we'll see stick by the end of the year again.

That is a disgusting way to go about it... No wonder the years I went to DGC I walked around with hand sanitiser and wet wipes. Siesa.

Keep your hands and gear clean gents. I won't be able to live with that mouse knowing I can't clean it properly.

Will have a look at the Endgame Gear XM1. I will also probably buy a model O once Evetech stocks them, but not too sure about a daily driver.

I mean obviously one will try keep it clean but me personally I can never ever get something back to box condition, there's always grime and wear left over whether it be a week, a month or a year old. And it's only going to get worse as much as I hate that and regardless how much effort or thought I put into it.

Also...good like trying to hand-sanitise a mouse with open access to the electronics. You will have to contend yourself with a wet wipe, or maybe some meths earbuds and weak blower of some sort.

I use dark core now but only other mouse i will use is a logitech one.

Had great experiences with both and i am pretty picky about what brand i use.

So all the others dont matter to me. Does not mean they are not good mice either.

With that considered, it remains a bad design imo.

They should somehow cover the sensitive parts so that you can still sanitise and clean the mouse. It does not have to be in new condition, but it's something that you hold with your entire hand for extended periods of time... You should clean it properly and regularly.

I guess most people don't give a shit either-way, and their mouses are only occasionally (if ever...) wiped anyway. SIS!

I am also a big fan of Corsair and Logitech peripherals.

I am going to sell my Glaive soon though, as I'm mainly using the G502 and Master MX2 at the moment.

Corsair's mice are goood, how well their software talk to their peripherals is a far less happy relationship though.
I've sworn them off for at least a year or 2 after my Glaive's disconnecting issues.

I had to make a choice and go either corsair or logitech.

I had my logitech peripherals for over a decade- mx518 upgraded to 704 or 504 which uses aa batteries.

Sold that for dark core but if i am honest the wireless logitech was better but due to aesthetics i wont change.

Apologies g602 i found better, this pluging cables in to charge is a lass.

Why not just use batteries that i can replace easily? Make sense

The G305 would solve your problems if only we could get it locally.

Alternatively something supporting mousepad wireless charging.

Is your Dark Core not perhaps the SE? so then all you need is a Qi pad.

I have the g pro and would love the g pro wireless. My next mouse is probably going to be the glorious model o in matte white once they launch. Does anybody know why they don't stock the g pro wireless in SA?

So, for me, a mouse is first and foremost, comfort. It needs to be comfortable since they get used for extended periods. Personally, the biggest issue I have had is a mouse that isn't wide enough, can never seem to find a mouse that accounts for (in right-handed mice) is support for Ring/pinkie finger right at the knuckles and first joints, and usually leads to cramping over time.

I agree with what Panda stated in terms of the perfect weight and that, and of course, it comes down to preference, I also agree that the G502 is one of the best shapes in the market because it fills in spots on the hand and provides support creating an overall much better experience of using a mouse.

The 3 points that matter most are the positioning of the hump itself, whether it is forward/backward, or off-center a little bit. Then it is the angle of the buttons themselves, how they interact with the grip and pressures applied. Then it is the sides of the mouse, probably the most important in my experience since most mice I've used my problem is keeping a good grip on the side, granted I sweat and lose that grip myself a lot of the time, and constant repositioning of the hand adds to the factors, but get the sides right, and you can build the top right IMO. Something that really interested me is the G600 that had a groove to accommodate your ring finger, right on the line that is the right top/side of the mouse. and I am more than happy to give up some of the width for the RMB to accommodate for this, the only problem is that groove needs to be formed properly so that the ring finger is acting as an anchor point and adds to the stability rather than just a resting place for the ring finger, because then your pinkie will for sure experience fatigue rather quickly.

With the weight, anything from 60-120g I feel is the sweet spot. Since the whole point of light mice is less fatigue and less weight to move around. I feel feeling the difference in weight only kicks in around 5g, not 10g as panda said, but having said that, once you are used to a mouse and you are just playing, that mouse becomes weightless essentially, because you are not focused on it and it becomes subconscious action. So that is where I agree with Panda saying the difference comes in at 10g because then you become aware over long periods of the effect the weight has on you/ your performance, and physical sate.

As for the mice themselves, only looked at the XM1 today. I really like the barebones approach, that really interests me, the inward grooves on the sides concern me but I see how they can work. Give me dat functionality.

Roccat I am rather interested in because of the bulkiness of the shape, although it looks simple and without much definition, I feel the shape itself will actually be more of a contender/ consistent shape than most as it aims at filling the hand and providing a fuller design rather than aspects that compliment the overall shape and only add to that section of the mouse and individual pieces like such eventually make up the entire mouse. Something I feel the G Pro wireless does really well too.

Glorious - Roccat all great mice, just wish the modular aspect of a mouse was not confined to its own mouse, the entire industry can benefit from that, so selfish in my opinion. CM seems good but the extensiveness of the hump seems a bit exaggerated and makes concern for the finger positioning/comfort, especially in a palm grip, It seems like your palm will half be floating in the air looking for a resting spot, although I haven't look into the mouse extensively either.

MX 518 meh, Air 58, good mouse/shape, but I feel the phantom was better, although I haven't really properly looked into that mouse. Razer, we've been waiting for them to make something that is actually good, and not just semi-comfortable.

G502 will always make me wet. and the G Pro wireless even more so, some would term that drippin'.

As said before, I want something that will fill out my palm and support ring/pinkie, because almost all mice cramp said fingers. If a mouse does that around 70/80g's I would be a happy human being.
