Steam Deck nullifies the old "But it's a handheld" argument. You don't have to look far on Digital Foundry's YT page to find poor Switch ports that either struggle to maintain their framerate or drop to even lower resolution, far from perfectly optimized.
I don't need to own hardware I don't like, to express an opinion about it's next iteration. It's like saying if the people complaining about the RTX4090 pricing actually owned one then they would not have any concerns about whether it's worth it.
The Nintendo Switch was a great device when it launched, and it has had great value over the years for those that can look passed its flaws.
But as per post #2, in my opinion it's overdue for a hardware revision - and it's pretty clear when you see a 0.8 tflop console get an OLED screen with a bit more storage and be sold for R1500 less than what I paid for my 10+ TFLOPs PS5 Digital. True they are for different applications as one is mobile/docked and one is just "docked"/stationary but they are both consoles produced in a post-pandemic word by manufacturers with a lot of $$$ behind them.
But don't let me dampen your excitement, it will still be a great game. Just, one that could've looked even better. Thankfully the latest rumour mill puts the next Switch as coming within a year or so (some guessing as early as the end of the year) so there is hope for those such as myself who want something better.
