Yay we broke the 12500 mark. Congrats

The problem is I am somewhat limit with clock speed overclock using the Suprim bios. And it is not the actual clock speed as with the Gaming X Trio bios 2130 to 2145mhz during gaming is 100% stable.

So according to the numbers

Nvidia sold more than 250 000 gpus to miners. Note this is just the amphere edition. And they would be the OEM versions

So this is a demand issue not a supply issue....

The 3060Ti supply may also have this issue come 2nd december.

The 3090s are also available as an oem nvidia version.

so much for the 2020 gpu cost silver lining

It sort of make you upset, but in all honesty here in South Africa we have not felt the RTX 3000 stock shortages as they have in the USA or even Europe. Well that is how I've looked at it. Does anyone here in South Afrika actually have an AMD RX 6000 series GPU? I do understand that the reference would not have been available in South Africa, but the AIB partner card should have been and the only listing I found was on Wootware and only XFX none other. You go look in the GPU classified section and see if you can find any reseller advertising the RX 6000 series. THis is really not good by AMD, they could have taken the market and closed in on Nvidia for market share but their stock is just not where it should be.

So I decided it's time to upgrade my six and a half year old Corsair AX860i PSU to something newer with more wattage.

Bought a new Corsair HX1200i, some Corsair braided PCIE cables and a new 3-pin power cable from @Oj0 at Progenix (which had by far the best pricing and service I've experienced in ages!)

Now the coil whine on my MSI RTX3080 Gaming X Trio is basically nothing. The coil whine on my GPU at 6000 fps in the Unigine Heaven is the same as at 60fps on my old PSU.

Crazy that a new PSU and new cables can make such a huge difference, so happy right now! :D

Bought a new Corsair HX1200i,

I bought the same (beefy) PSU . It is awesomely sitting in the corner while I build the 15 other pcs. It is worthy of a beafeater!!!

Power without control and all that (it is a motor head thing)

Well, I have finally joined the ranks. What a beautiful card!

Some takeaways: I need to figure out a better cooling solution for the card. I really want to mount vertically, but because of how thick it is there isn't much space between it and the glass panel. Most likely just going to buy a bunch of fans and stuff the thing full of fans lol.

Anyone know if the Corsair iCue fans work with Gigabyte RGB Fusion 2.0? Don't really want to have to install iCue and use another piece of software.

Final side note: Totally worth the aesthetic advantage in CSGO lol.

From coaching csgo to a rocket league pro and then this beauty of a build - Nice Bruv

Hi guys

So I bought a Arktek Hyperion off @SILTECH786 and @PC Rescue on Friday. Tested the card a bit tonight and here is what I have:

All at stock out of box Port Royal 11152 score

I scored 11 152 in Port Royal

MSI Afterburner at +190 on core clock and +1000 on memory clock 11782 score

Temps are quite good never going over 67C and a pull of 320W. Would need a bios flash to pull more power but for that I am too much of a noob.

Maybe the experts here can give some comments as to how that measures up. I have very limited experience at this.

Looks good, around 11800 PR is what I get with my gaming overclock on my 350w MSI Gaming X Trio so yours is quite good for only 320w.

Whats the max fan rpm after gaming ?

11900 odd on PR with a strix 3080 using the asus set oc profile (so out the box settings) ... 12492 was my attempt at an OC. That will be like maybe 1fps difference if even in real world gaming

Well done ... Ill be honest did not think a psu change would reduce the coil whine. Anyways thought it was related to high fps

Can confirm. This is with some tweaks to core and memory clocks and a small drop to voltage.

Clean power is everything!
I'd you ever decide to go for the rest of the Corsair Sleeved kit please remember that your 24Pin ATX is Type 3 only

Hi @Kratos don't really know the brand of your card, and interestingly when looking at your result links it states Nvidia Corporation as vendor where as mine would state Micro-Star International Co for MSI. I can give you some pointers for flashing the bios, but it is maybe not really needed. I found with many bios flashes that the stock bios actually works best.

Still your results are good for 320watt power limit.

I have no idea anymore, this morning the coil whine is back in games. I give up lol, it is what it is.

Maybe its tinnitus . . .

Sent from my SM-G980F using Tapatalk

Nah you can clearly hear it appear as soon as the game starts its intro vids, it's dead silent at 0rpm on the desktop.
And it's not any case fans as I set them to 500rpm and the noise was still there.
It's also not the GPU fans because those are still at 0rpm when the game starts as the temps are low enough.

Got zero coil whine on mine. Under load benching or gaming.

Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

Yeah it seems it's just down to luck on how the coils were glued at the factory.

Some reviews had coil whine on their NVIDIA Founders 3080 and ASUS Strix 3080 cards so it's just down to luck.

Not sure if my coil whine meets the RMA criteria, would hate to without a card for 3 weeks and then they just say it's normal because it doesn't sound like this :

But anyway, Cyberpunk 2077 is out in under 2 weeks, most suppliers are closing soon and stock is low.
Will wait for January and probably RMA it. Worst case I lose a few weeks of gaming time and some shipping fees, best case I get a new quiet card.

Coil whine is unlikely to get you an RMA. It really depends on the goodwill of the retailer. It's not regarded as a defect.
Would think if it's really bad they might consider it.
