The Courier Guy - The absolute worst courier company in SA.

Hmm, I see you mentioned dealing with them for over 10 years, that sucks to hear. I've only been doing so for about 3 and only had one hiccup with a multi-package delivery, I don't think they're that bad, you can definitely do faaar worse like RAM constantly losing packages or CourierIT constantly delivering to wrong addresses, but maybe Postnet could be worth it, also had no issues with them.

Don't forget fastway that pulls up to your house, then drives away claiming nobody was home... had this almost every single time I get something via fastway.
 
I’ve used TCG via @ichigo for the vast majority of my 200 or so Carb deals and never really had an issue. If TCG is a hot mess the Ichi does as amazing job of shielding his customers from it.

I have used TCG with Ichigo and Gloebflight from tbin a.k.a Colonel Sanders. Never had an issue with either of them, but I have been using Globeflight recently because it's generally cheaper.
 
The incidents I mentioned in my post are the highlights between August and now. Something along the lines of the four points happens on a weekly basis dating back to August. Their billing department is SHIT, that has nothing to do with the time of the year.

I have to contact them to get them to do their job so often that I now get weekly reminder emails from them that I'm not allowed to phone, all comms regarding my account must be via email. IDGAF, they often take up to 24 hours to reply to a mail, sometimes I need to forward my first mail once a day for a day or two before they reply.

If you want I can start telling horror stories from the four years preceding where I dealt with them elsewhere. Parcels getting left behind in plain site. Drivers not showing up until 1.5 hours after closing time. Account taking more than 24 hours to unsuspend. You name it.

They do, however, remain one of the better options scraped from the bottom of a dirty toilet. Aramax, MDS Collivery and CourierIT are far worse.
I was chatting in general about any courier service in this time. Internationally UPS has been the best. Locally tough to really say tbh

It is like that with all couriers they all have bad day, month, years and then they have there good days, month, years whatever LOL
The problem come when they get to big that is when the service go's out the door because it about the bottom line and not the service any more.

The short of it all they all bad good sometimes all the time

Oh and also don't forget Fastway who you pay for Overnight shipping, they then flag the collection and delivery dates incorrectly so parcel sits at a warehouse for a weekend instead of being delivered the day it was supposed to.

Or having a parcel come in on a Saturday to the Cpt warehouse, monday 8am its flagged as scheduled for next delivery run, yet when you call them they give you some bullshit excuse about they can't deliver today in Cpt because the weather in Jhb is bad...
 
I used them for a bit then stopped when started messing me around, I currently use internet express, much quicker and cheaper
IE lost 2 of my packages. One they eventually found - the second they did not. Was actually going to jump ship to the TCG.
 
One thing I can recommend is using uAfrica instead of the parcelperfect/TCG portal

It went from a time-consuming slug to easy integration that's all automated. It's all account-based, so you get to skip that nightmare of "topping up"

That being said, looking into Optimise by Parcelninja | Your all in one courier optimisation software at the moment to see if I can further automate things to try get a few more minutes out of my day
 
IE lost 2 of my packages. One they eventually found - the second they did not. Was actually going to jump ship to the TCG.
Well seems like there no good recommendations then, I never had any issues with IE thus far.
 
I have to say just yesterday I was thinking that TCG is one the very few companies in South Africa that has impressed me with their level of service. At least here in Lichenburg I've had every single package from and to Pretoria and Joburg in the next day and from Cape Town, Durban etc in 2 days 95% of the time. And cheap as fuck. R85 overnight for most packages is stupidly cheap compared to there couriers.

I have to agree Aramex service sucks. They don't call, just send package back and said customer not home(never left home for 2 days, when package was deemed out for delivery ).
 
I don’t have any issues with TCG. I WhatsApp @ichigo the details and it’s done. So easy.

Just went through the exact same thing with them, i think they are over extended.
 
If you think TCG is bad, try Aramex, 1.37 avg rating on Hellopeter.
For reference, Evetech is 2.34, TCG is 2.02 and the Post office is 1.52.
I can vouch for that. I've bought a few Christmas gifts from Amazon and shipped them via Aramex and I'm honestly considering asking Amazon if they can refund me the items and then I will reorder the same items again with a more expensive option (DHL).

How do you explain 5x packages ordered on different dates (end November, early December) arrive in South Africa weeks back and still no movement in Linbro Park Office???

I've wasted a total of 6 calls which totals to 57 minutes and 15 seconds with no answer on any of there call centre numbers.

I've always thought people were complaining unnecessary about Aramex, but dam was I wrong... I will never ever deal with them ever again!!!
 
I honestly think that the good/bad experiences are generally going to be limited to specific areas. Especially in the case of TCG, where any Tom, Dick or Harry can buy into the franchise - it's not to say that Harry has his shit together at his branch in Pretoria, but Dick in Kimberly (hehe...Dick in Kimberly [I swear I'm an adult]) and Tom in Riviersonderend could have the drive and passion to make their respective branches a success.

Out of all the 'standard' courier services I have used in the past, at least in terms of the collections/deliveries from/to me, in CPT...TCG is top of my list, then Dawn Wing and, surprisingly, Aramex. The drives are meticulous, super friendly and dependable. The depots are (seemingly) efficient, no lost or damaged parcels. The proverbial shit hits the fan when leaving their depots and heading up to Gauteng or KZN (noticed issues with these areas, specifically)

Internet Express, Globeflight, DSV...all beyond shit here, yet people in other parts of the country actually swear by these guys.
 
Had nothing but great service from TCG in PTA.
 
The company I work for has been using TCG for a good 3 years now and in all that time we've had perhaps 3 parcels go missing, or incorrectly delivered. Bear in mind we ship probably 15 orders a day with them so in 3 years that's pretty good. I think it boils down to your areas' driver. We have a guy in Woodmead called Xolani and he is the balls. 2 times a day like clockwork, and always professional.
