I'm quite impressed by his determination to make things right, to be honest. Yes, he shouldn't have "stolen" it in the first place, but it's not too bad that you're getting it back bit by bit.

You and me both. I had written off that money and resigned myself to resuming my belief that people who steal are shit (nothing radical in that belief). But this experience has shown me that sometimes people do shit things out of desperation and not malice, which makes the act not so black and white:find me a South African who has not gone through shit in this shithole in the past couple of years.

I still don't completely forgive him as the opportunity cost of not having all of that money has been destroyed over the ~18 months this has been going on for(it was also a few months before moving into our newly bought house FFS), but I can understand somewhat why it happened, and it was not simply to steal.

That being said, I have no idea if he still owes the other dude who was in this thread who's banned now(Traveller), so he might still be avoiding paying him back, which makes him a shit.

Another R300 paid.

R1827 remaining

Yes, let's frown upon people that struggle.

I got the vibe that the guy was quite a mover, according to the op he had around R30k of people's paypal funds at one stage, not pocket change.

Paying back R300 a month is ridiculous, I thought by doing that the guy was still taking the p-ss. That being said I haven't been following the thread for a while so I may be out of touch.

Op why do you think he's paying it back so painfully slowly?

Because he is a graphic designer that fell on hard times and had some medical bills he had to cover for his mother (at the time, and no idea if true). That being said, since he has paid me back 85% of what was owed, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he just found himself in a hole and got some money that was interest free for a couple years.

This is like Days of our Lives, it just never ends... :ROFLMAO:
