Hi Guys,

I recently built my new mashine. MSI B550A Pro, R5 3600,Klev Cras X RGB 16gig (2x8) running at 3600 on XMP and Also Klev 256gig m.2 NVME drive(in the 2nd m.2 slot) and Nvidia 1030 (i know LOL) GPU. All is running on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. Everything works. Everything except audio through audio jacks(rear).I could also not get audio through the onboard HDMI port to the speaker(Unless im stupid and shouldnt be able to. The system picks the speakers up when plugged in, speakers set to default device, and even shows the sound playing but no audio is coming through the speaker. It recognises unplugging etc. (USB Audio to headset works perfectly).

Is it an RMA or am I missing something?! (Audio is enabled in bios.)

I have to say, my Dell S2721HGF is showing as an HD Audio device (Dunno Why), but also shows correctly under monitors. Im thinking that the fact that the screen is showing as an HD Audio device might have something to do with it, but then again not, cos it is not set to default.

PLEEEEEEAAAAAAAAse help.
Kind regards.

Did you try unmute/adjust the volume.

Create a bootable live linux flash drive, boot from it, and go to youtube and play a video to see if there is audio.

The monitor showing as Audio device is normal for anything connected via HDMI.
Have you installed your motherboard's audio drivers as sometimes the default windows 10 ones just dont work.

Volume adjust on headset (usb) works fine. Speakers does nothing. Dont have experience on the linux thingy but will give it a pop...got nothing else to do LOLOLOL

JIP. motherboard audio installed from MSI website. and Realtek Audio (WIth realtek audio manager) installed.

Check the audio manager to make sure your line out jack is set to Speakers.
Thats exactly why I uninstalled the original Realtek and reinstalled the version with Audio Manager as to get visual confirmation that it detects plugin and plugout. And yes, in the green lineout jack, with the selection to set as speaker.

Then only thing i can think of is that your volume on the pc is either muted or set to 0 for the speakers (line out jack).
Either that of you have a bum jack.

You can try changing a different jack to be set to speakers using the Audio Manager and see if that works too.

Make sure that the default audio device is the one that the speakers is connected to. Windows will show that audio is playing in the sound manager even if it’s not the default device.

It feels like its internally muted. (somewhere where no ons should ever need to go.) Beacause i have plugged in to different jacks, changing it to speakers, and keep getting the same result. Thats why I dont think the jacks are bummed, coz if it was, imho it would have functioned completely for every other function except for playing audio.

It feels like it should be a BIOS instruction not to output audio or a deep down windows bar on audio output, but shurely i would have come across a similar issue by now after about 10-15 hours of googling and trial and error. I AM TRUELY STUMPED.

Make sure that the default audio device is the one that the speakers is connected to. Windows will show that audio is playing in the sound manager even if it’s not the default device.
Thats why I unplugged, it disappeared, plugged in, it reappeared, and that device(the speakers) was set to default. I am pretty shure it is correct.

Pc busted my buddy. Also old already only 3rd gen ryzen its fine buddy i can help you out I'll give you R100 shap you won't get a berrer deal leka buddy I'll even wear a mask when i collect thanks
GLAd to hear u like my setup!!!! All in a white Neo Qube nogal@!!!! ;)

Have you tried different speakers? You sure you connected the HD-Audio plug on mobo? If your screen is HDMI and detects it, can you plug speakers to screen?

Have you tried switching your playback device on the bottom right?

playback device in bottom right tried. ive got screen, speakers and headphones(usb), switching to headphones work, switching to screen does nothing.

monitor has heaphones out jack, but if it works, what does it tell me? Surely I should be able to get sound from the onboard audio jacks unless its FUBAR>

IDEA: IF I REMOVE MY NVME DRIVE, AND PLUG IN MY SSD WITH WINDOWS 7 ON?! AND TRY AND GET AN AUDIO OUTPUT??

THAT SHOULD TELL ME WHETHER ITS A SOFTWARE OR HARDWARE ISSUE? AM I CORRECT?

First, what are you plugging into the speaker jack to test it? Is there an on/off switch and/or volume control on the headset/speakers you are using to test it? Check these first.

Then try something else in that jack. Your headset/speakers may be faulty.

Also try unplugging the USB headset when testing the speaker out.

Then. Right click on the volume icon -> Open sound settings -> Sound control panel (near the top right) -> double click on Speakers (Realtek) Then:
- General tab -> Device usage = Use this device (Enable)
- Levels tab -> make sure it's not muted
- Advanced tab -> Untick both options by exclusive mode, and untick Enable audio enhancements. Also by Default format -> set it to the lowest one and click Test; work your way up until it stops playing a sound.

Then if that works make sure you set the speakers as the default device, and that A) all apps that you are using are set to use that device and B) all apps have their volume turned up.

I am plugging my LG soundbar into the speaker JACK. Simply coz i know it works. It has power and mode settings so I can control it. I went and bought and aux to optical cable to plug it in as HDMI off of the MB wasnt working.

All the other steps I have done and are the current settings. The frequencies i have drubbed through from lowest to highest with no result.(back to default)

What I havent done is unplugged the usb headset(should make a difference imo) but willing to try all to resolve.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Much appreciated.

Im playing from youtube currently as it is a new pc and no other audio apps have been isntalled.

Audio from the monitor bypasses the onboard motherboard audio chip, monitors have their own audio chip.

Hmm. Firstly why is this in the job discussion forum? Which OS verison.

MSI's older boards have an issue with the newer windows OS version (20hxx) and the older realtek drivers.

You have to download the newer driver from a newer board and install that with the audio control from the win store. Or you can try the cz cz download site and that driver works (Jan 2021).

You may also need to exclude that device from auto updates as the newer windows drivers cause issues with this device.

First test that the audio works out of the screen. This eliminates the audio and audio drivers as a source of errors.

did you de couple the front and rear audio output jacks?

do you have a 4 pole or 3 pole audio jack?

I went and bought and aux to optical cable to plug it in

What do you mean aux to optical cable? Aux is analogue and optical is (usually) digital. If it's going from motherboard aux jack into soundbar optical jack then it probably won't work since the jack is outputting analogue signal and the soundbar is expecting digital signal. AFAIK there is not a way to make the PC output digital signal from the rear jacks, it would need to have co-ax or optical output for that.

Have you confirmed you can play from a different aux/headphone jack (e.g. your phone's headphone jack) into the soundbar optical input, and it then works? Try that and check.

as HDMI off of the MB wasnt working.
You have an R5 3600 which doesn't have any audio/video output from the motherboard HDMI port. The only way you can get sound via HDMI from the PC is from the GPU HDMI port, and even then I think it would only output sound if you connect it to something with both sound and video like your monitor or a TV. It won't work if you connect it straight to the soundbar.

The soundbar has a lot of variables. Don't you have any plain headphones you can just plug into the motherboard audio jack and see if sound comes out? Even the ones that came with your phone will work. Or, if the soundbar has an aux jack input or RCA (red and white) input then that should work from the motherboard's aux jack, but then you would need to buy a different cable.

I SWEAR THAT CABLE IS AUX ON ONE END AND OPTICAL ON THE OTHER. lol BUT THAT MAKES SENSE...WOULD MAYBE EXPLAIN WHY IT IS OUTPUTTING AUDIO BUT NOT PLAYING ANYTHING SOUND...(WHAT WOULD THE USE FOR SUCH A CABLE BE THEN?!

I WAS AWARE OF NO VIDEO OUTPUT THROUGH ONBOARD HDMI...BUT FIGUERED THAT SOUND SHOULD OUTPUT VIA ONBOARD HDMI?(AM I DUMB OR WHY WOULD AMD BOARDS THEN HAVE AN ONBOARD HDMI PORT?) HAVE BEEN ON INTEL FOR BIT!!! lol

I WILL TRY CELLPHONE EARPHONES INTO AUDIO JACK...IF THAT WORKS IT MEANS THE SOUND WORKS AND THE SOUNDBAR IS CONNECTED IN A WAY THAT THE SETUP DOESNT LIKE.

WILL ALSO TRY THE SCREEN OUTPUT TO HEADPHONE JACK TO ISOLATE THE ONBOARD SOUND FROM THE EQUATION.

THESE STEPS SHOULD THEN SURELY PUT ME IN A POSITION TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE.

ITS WIN 10 PRO 64 BIT.

IF YOU MEAN DECOUPLE AS IN OPERATING INDEPENDANTLY AS TO BE ABLE TO PLAY DIFFERENT AUDIO SIMULTANEOUSLY YES.

AND REGARDING THE AUDIO JACK'S POLES....I WOULD HAVE TO CHECK.(THAT ONLY HAS REFERENCE TO THE MIC BEING ADDED ON THE SAME POLE? IF IM CORRECT.)

U SUGGESTING IF IT HAS 4 MAYBE USING THE FRONT JACK?

The reason you have no Audio is because you bought the PC or parts from Evetech.
No one can help you with that ;)

IT IS funny...coz its true. and sad. guess i should have paid extra for audio. LOL is faulty evetech products a thing?

There are probably some devices that can output digital audio from a 3.5mm jack. But your computer is not one of them. So I reckon that cable won't work for your intended purpose.

I WAS AWARE OF NO VIDEO OUTPUT THROUGH ONBOARD HDMI...BUT FIGUERED THAT SOUND SHOULD OUTPUT VIA ONBOARD HDMI?(AM I DUMB OR WHY WOULD AMD BOARDS THEN HAVE AN ONBOARD HDMI PORT?) HAVE BEEN ON INTEL FOR BIT!!! lol
Sound won't output via HDMI without video. Some Ryzen processors do have onboard video/audio (i.e. any processor with a name ending with a 'G'). That is what that port is there for. But yeah with the 3600 it's basically a dead port.

Yup, let us know what happens. At least then we will have ruled out your PC's audio output as the issue, then we can find a better way to connect the PC to the soundbar. Either a 3.5mm jack to RCA cable, or a USB to optical adapter box (then it will use the DAC in the soundbar rather than in the PC, which should give better sound quality).
