Stellenbosch LTE

Whatsup people.

I'm moving to Stellenbosch Central soon, but unfortunately have no fibre available at my new place.

Anyone else also staying around there with some advice as to which LTE to get? Trying to avoid congested towers etc. as I will be gaming...

At this stage I'm thinking of getting the cheapest package (40GB) from MWEB combined with the unlimited data from Rain 4G for R250 p/m. So the idea is to use Rain for majority of the time, but use the Mweb package during peak times so I don't have to buy data from rain, which is hella expensive. This will total to around R600 p/m.

Please let me know which solutions you are using if you are also currently staying around there

Stay away from contracts.

I use a mix of Rain and Pre paid 40GB Telkom LTE-A packages (peak/off-peak split).

Month to month is best for any capped solution.

If the speed/latency is unbearable, stop paying.

Agree 100%. With the way data comes down in price every year, you'll be getting milked. Also Gov are forcing MTN + Vodacom's hand re data pricing etc.

Also, watch Rain, as many people have got scary bills. Screen print any convo/settings you adjust.

I got this Rain lte R250 deal for the kids. what a waste of money. on average get about 80kb/s. sometimes get 1mb/s but then it work 5sec off 20sec and work 5sec again. Took 4 days to download fortnite(30gig). Had it a few months, but going to cancel end this month

Before you cancel, have you tried connecting to the 2600MHz band? If not, give it a go. You will need to use the Huawei Band tool to run a script to force 2600MHz as this cannot be set via the GUI. Check MyBB for more info and the attachments.
