Deal Thread URL: [Sale] - Corsair Vengeance 32gb ddr4 3000mhz (4x8) cl15 | Memory / RAM
Seller:
@Illya
Buyer: @Regicide
Description of Bad Deal: About 2 - 3 weeks ago I responded to this guys post for his ram.
He said that he was going back to Italy and had to get rid of everything. He sent me pics.
When I went to his apartment, I saw his GPU that he had sent me pics of and also power supply.
We got talking about graphics cards and I told him what GTX 1080ti's were selling for in SA on the second hand market to try help him with his sale.
At the same time I offered him R6000 for the card.
He said he would let me know.

2 days later he told me I can have his GPU for R6000.
At that point in time we had only talked about 1080ti's, and pricing thereof.
I went back and bought the GPU and also his Corsair power supply.
Needless to say he was boarding his flight that day.

Fast forward 2 weeks to now, and I finally finished the build and installed windows.
I fire up furmark and see a lower than normal score for a 1080ti.
To my horror I see that I am sitting with a gtx 1080!
I tell him that I would never have paid R6000 for a gtx 1080 and am going to take the card back to his friend who is still here.
He says "he never said it was a 1080ti"

We have been back and forth and basically there is no recourse since he is in Italy, and he doesn't seem to care.
Oh yes, did I mention that the card has coil whine?
Also, told me he would send me the invoices for the goods. I got some screenshots from his phone of the order number on Amazon.

If anyone buys from this guy in the future, get ready to not get the full story.
And no matter what happens in this bad deal thread, you have been warned.
Buy hey, why would he care, he is in Italy with my money, and has a 0 rating.

oh yes, just to clarify, I went to his other ads today to check and see that he mentions in his ads that the 1080 is not the ti.
I had no prior knowledge to this, beyond me responding to his ram, all our interaction was in person.
I didn't actually come back to carb and check if he had in fact posted the GPU.
That is an error on my part.
Perhaps this is a lesson in not trusting people at face value.

@Regicide yeah man I dunno. Did you ask him there if it's a Ti? Because to me it looks like it's a 1080 as advertised?

Yes.
We stood at his apartment for about 15min talking about 1080ti's and negotiating.
As mentioned, I didn't check his other ads, I was there for the ram.
Also he told me the card was perfect.
I hadn't bought all components for my build, which is why I bought his ram and was negotiating on his "1080ti" and power supply.
Worst part is the card has coil whine.
Not PERFECT by any stretch of the imagination.

OK so you specifically asked "is that a 1080Ti"? Because according to his thread and post from almost a month ago, he's fully aware that it's not a Ti.

He said to me in his apartment:
"What about my graphics card?"
And I said "is it a 1080ti?"
And he said yes.
Then I said: "is it the amp or amp extreme" and he said "amp extreme".
And then we started chatting about 1080ti's being the top of the 10 series and performance and negotiating.
And then after I left (the first time when I bought just the ram) I sent him a WhatsApp telling him I was negotiating with someone on a 1080ti for R6500 and was a local card - since I knew his was bought through Amazon.

Remember at this stage all his components were sitting separate and he was trying to sell them and was flying back to Italy.
I felt sorry for the guy since he wanted to get rid of everything.
Also R6000 for a 1080ti is a solid deal.
R6000 for a gtx 1080 is a horrible deal at present.

I've bought and sold a ton of graphics cards... why would I buy a gtx 1080 for R6000?

There you go.
I even say I'm busy negotiating on a 1080ti elsewhere

OK it makes sense, yes. Just wanted to make sure. @Illya - do you have something to add here?

Hey, sorry for the late response . I never sayd is 1080 ti, but just 1080 extreme edition. My conscience is affixed. Sorry for your time.
Well you sure as hell gave the impression that its a 1080ti and never made an effort to correct his misconception as it is obvious that he believed its a 1080ti.

Yeah I agree with what's been said. Sorry for your incorrect deal here OP. Banning the guy and closing this thread.
