Hi guys,

So this weekend I decided to format my PC. I decided to go with GPT EUFI installation. Installation went quick and as expected. I did most of my program and game installs.

After a quick restart, no SSD was found..... If I boot of the installation media and open recovery console, enter Diskpart, I can see the drive, Drive 0, but its size is 0b and free space is 0b....
I did the recommended "clean" command, to clear the config off the drive, and it completes successfully, but drive still has 0b.... Can't convert the drive back to MBR, because it says some error ". . . . file specified not found" or something...

I can't create partitions, because there is no space. I have also tried Linux, but that does not even pick up the drive....

Has anyone dealt with something similar? Is the drive gevok?

I had an issue once whereby the installation media failed to recognize the SSD until I unplugged all other HDD's in the machine. Installed OS, plugged back in and was working fine after that.

EDIT: The Windows 10 "reset" is quite effective, no real need to re-install for a routine quick clean anymore.

I ended up installing windows on my old 500GB HDD.

Windows picks up the drive, but its not initialized. If I try initialize it, it gets an error...

Try hard disc sentinel / crystal disc mark (or something) on it. Does sound like a drive failure. Hopefully this will tell you yay or nay.

Get a copy of Parted Magic and create a bootable USB. Boot! (64-bit UEFI mode)

Maybe put the SSD into a USB case and see if GParted can pick it up. If it can, open the Erase Disk utility and use the secure erase function to erase the disk completely. If the drive is picked up but it is locked in the utility, unplug it and then plug it back in again. That should unlock it.

Use GParted to create new partitions and file systems or use a Windows utility like Minitool Partition Wizard.

If that doesn't work, I'm afraid your SSD is fooked. That is the most powerful tool I know of for this kind of issue.

Cheers :)

Did you check your BIOS boot sequence? Was your BIOS not trying to look for legacy boot partitions?

Had a friend who's laptop kept saying no boot sector found, but turns out his bios was looking for a UEFI boot partition, but he had a legacy/MBR installation. i.e. he had the opposite problem .

Thanks bud. I'll give this a try.

Yip, I checked this, but didn't work...
