The new RTX 3000 or 2100 cards, as well as Big Navi, should hopefully be here later this year. Let's discuss them and post rumours to try make the wait seem less agonizing.
So the latest rumours are :
5 March at AMD's Financial Analyst Day starting from 23:00. This one seems an unlikely event for Big Navi, but it could happen.
16 March at GDC. This one seems unlikely for NVIDIA, they are mainly focusing on RTX and its implementation for gaming.
23 March at NVIDIA GTC at 23:59 will be Jensen Huang's keynote. Might just be news on a Titan A or Ampere for non-gaming consumers, but it's the most rumoured launch date.
2 June at Computex. Very big event, however who knows how the Coronavirus will be affecting Asia. Might spur NVIDIA/AMD to announce it in March instead.
So who else is waiting ? What are your hopes and expectations for performance/pricing ?
With a new architecture on 7nm, we could see some big performance gains but I think NVIDIA won't go all-out.
I'm expecting the RTX 2170 to come in and match the 2080ti at R14k on launch.
I'm also expecting the RTX 2180 to come in at around R17.5k on launch with +-15-20% on the 2080ti.
I'm not expecting a big die 2180Ti so early on 7nm.
I hope AMD does a better job with Big Navi than the 5700XT which has been in the news for its thermals and drivers for all the wrong reasons. NVIDIA needs some competition so their top cards arent R25k.
