Agree with pretty much all of the criticism above. Its the worst Star Wars movie out of the lot so far. There were some really really GREAT scenes though. Like the fight against the red body guard dudes. Just awesome and vicious choreography.

Aside from that. There was just things that completely ruined the movie. One that I havent seen mentioned here is the inclusion of that random asian chick. What the hell? The whole arc with her and Finn ended up being pointless, and the casino town just had NO impact on the end outcome of the movie.

Snoke dying in 1 second was my personal biggest peeve. That was stupid, and just arg. I was so excited to learn about him.

Finn should have died in the end. It would have completed his character arc so nicely. I was ready for him to give himself for the Rebels. How did that chick even catch up with him? Assuming he was going full speed at them...

But hands down, the Leia/ Mary Poppins scene was just embarrassing and actually soured the rest of the movie for me. It was totally cringe worthy, and we absolutely DIDNT need to see it. If it were implied, that would have been so much better.

Welp, I just saw this now and never really considered this aspect until now. Now that I have seen it and considered this, I can safely say RIP cool space battles. You will be sorely missed!!! Or Disney will ignore their own lore and just put them back in...

Tolkien for example hated Disney with a passion.

They should incorporate more occult, Easter eggs, side plots, twists instead of that annoying humor..

My problem is that Disney seems to have forgotten the idea of dedicated comedic relief characters. These characters are not just there to be funny. Whilst that might be an important aspect of them, they also play an extremely important role in proving the legitimacy of other characters and story arcs. One characters seriousness is complemented and justified by the fact that they aren't dicking around and literally playing broken telephone with an extremely powerful military general. Then, because this creates tension, you have another character who will make a joke (hopefully not) or act in a funny way (preferably) which would diffuse the situation. This again, creates legitimacy for the serious characters and the serious story arcs. And this cancer among the writing of films is being injected into a variety of different films and simply lowering the quality of things released by Hollywood by a massive amount.

I don't know. Maybe I am looking at it from an overly technical standpoint but I do think there are very good reasons as to why certain things and rules have been created within the literary industry (story/entertainment industry). And The Last Jedi has shown this with an audience score of 47% on Rotten tomatoes compared to the prequels averaging 60%. That is hilariously sad.

And once again, the worst part about all of this is that Disney literally bought a franchise that has a billion (obviously hyperbole) pre-written stories that the vast majority of the casual fan base (which is where the film cash comes from) have not read and do not know about. They had to do almost no work and still they messed up
