Hi,

Can anyone recommend a company they've had experience with shipping vehicles?

Looking at having my Girlfriend's car shipped from Durban to Cape Town

Might be cheaper to actually drive this down yourself. Last I looked at something like this cost was rather hight had the wait can also be a few days.

But maybe have a look at gindrod or via train with transnet. In past they charged more for hatchbacks.

I used a company called Peter Benn motors twice. No issues and was one of the cheaper companies too.

It's not too bad... around 5 - 6k according to what we've seen.

Add up two tanks of fuel and the time taken off work etc. it's probably cheaper

Thanks, will check them out!

seems like the price has prety much stayed the same then, but the cost of fuel has increased somewhat.
i see CPT to JHB and CPT to DBN as one day trip.

but i guess if one still have to get to DBN from CPT its still that flight/bus trip cost.

Yeah it is, but for the little amount of money to save it's really just worth paying someone else😅 Especially having to add in the flight etc.

I'll update you guys with the price etc.

EDIT: Mom recently shipped an i10 to Cape Town, says it was under R3k, so that's a lot cheaper than driving! but I guess value, size etc. all come into play

Moto via. Roughly 3500 one way.

Have used them twice now with no issues. Usually a week's delivery time.

Can second Motorvia, used them some years ago to bring a car to DBN from CPT, then used them again a few years later when I moved to CPT. The costs increased noticeably though... the first time was in ~2015 and I paid R3500, the second in 2017 and I paid around R5500. The time of year will also make a difference, as I definitely paid more due to my move occurring during the December/festive period.
