I want to connect two MikroTik routers using the SFP ports, which unfortunately don't support anything newer like SFP+ and QSFP.
My preferred option would be a SFP DAC cable or alternatively a SFP RJ45 or SFP LC will also do.
I've also read that some of SFP+ cables simply won't work when plugged into a SFP port.

Scoop is selling the Cudy SFP to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Module | SM220 for R160 each but I was hoping that someone here might have a drawer full for these things that aren't being used.

Most of the 10G SFPs should run at a reduced rate on a SFP port, I did a quick loopback test for you on a CRS112-8P-4S.
Reach out to @Hokkelpokkel, he's a good oke and I'm sure he will have something for you. I see he's got shorter (10m) fibre at the moment too. The SFPs I tested with are from him.

Have you tried forcing port negotiation?

Possibly check of the routerOS version on them? 7.18.2 os latest. SFP+ 10GB are designed to be backwards compatible.

I can arrange 1gb sfp for you with standard lc patch lead. Or i have DAC cable available aswell

I've got the latest RouterOS but I haven't tried setting anything on the MikroTiks yet as I need to get a DAC or similar first. 😊

I got a SFP DAC cable from @L0n3ly_M1sf1t so I'm sorted with that.

Still looking for a couple of SFP to RJ45 modules however to convert the additional ports on my switch to something more practical.
