Nvidia stocks are down 18%. Team green blames the miners. Seems like they're on the gamer's side again, doesn't it?

But there's more to it. Nvidia apparently expected the mining craze to last longer. So they turned all their machines on overdrive and churned out as many 1060's as they possibly could. And then it all stopped, dropped and rolled. Now they're sitting on excess stock they have to move before they can release the RTX 2060. Now while this isn't great news, the question is "how long"?

Well, 3 to 6 months before their stock is cleared, according to CEO Jensen Huang. They're also worried about the second hand market, actually, with the majority of miners offloading their second-hand, mined cards at very attractive prices.

All the above needs to be taken into account. Yes, they never leaked or revealed any possible dates for the RTX 2060 release, but it's safe to assume that they won't release the RTX 2060 with the current stock of GTX 1060 cards on the market. All we can do is wait and hope the hardware is liquidated as quickly as possible, as the world is waiting on the "budget powerhouse" '60.

Might be some time as the RX 590 is cheaper than the 1060 (6 gig) and it's faster...they will have to drop quite considerably in price to get them selling....

A mid-range AMD card with a FreeSync monitor is really a nice combo, and far cheaper than doing the Gsync alternative.

Ag shame, cry me a green river nVidia...so sick of your bullshit.

Why on earth would anyone want to buy a 2060 anyway?
RTX brings the big daddy 2080Ti to it's knees so why not just get a 1070Ti or 1080 instead?

I've seen some threads and videos that suggest the current 1060 will be repackaged with a few key differences like GDDR5x and sold to compete with the RX 590 as they are sitting on to much stock. This is newer news though and I only saw this recently.

I've seen a few videos on the 1060 with GDDR5x memory and apparently it'll add maybe 1 FPS to gaming performance. It's not a silver bullet to upgrade the card. However, GDDR5x will overclock better so they may release the cards running at a really high speed to increase the performance to that of the AMD 590.

The problem with the 2060 is that it can't outperform the 2070 but needs to outperform the 1070ti at least so it's stepping very close to the toes of the 2070 automatically, buuuuuut, won't be powerful enough for ray tracing games. It had better be cheap but I doubt it'll come out at a reasonable price.
