Hi Guys

So was hoping to get some advice on what the hell is going on here. I recently did some renovations at home and subsequently moved my entire setup.

So it first started with my new headsets (Sennheiser GSP 370) wireless headphones where i was getting horrible crackling and pops which i chalked up to wireless interference from somewhere but still wasnt too sure as i previously had a wireless router right next to my pc and had 0 interference and they ran great.

Fast forward to last night and im switching off the lights and locking up. I go to turn off my ceiling fan and i notice my glorious model O RGB switch on for a few seconds and then off again. It is connected to the USB ports at the back of my pc. I find it strange so i switch the fan on and off again a few times and every time as im turning the fans off the Model O RGB switches on again for a few seconds which means power is going through my USB ports. On one instance it turned on when i switched the fan on.

I have little to no experience in terms of electrical does anyone know what the hell is going on here? By the way i am connected via a 2 metre extension cable as the outlet is too far and they are 2 surge protectors ( 1 dedicated on the outlet and a tiny 1 thats built into the powerbrick where all my components plug into).

Is this dangerous for my pc and whats causing the horrible crackle on pops on my headies.

Have an Electrican come check it out.

To me it sounds like you have an earthing issue as mentioned above, which explains the waking the PC up and the noise. Somewhere someone might not have reconnected the earth during renovations.

If it started when you added the extension lead, try another extension as sometimes the contacts on those leads don't hold properly.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I will try another extension cable tonight to see if that helps the situation as well as trying a different plug point which is about 5-6 metres away.

I think the best call to make though is to just get a good electrician to have a look at it. I have a feeling the ceiling fan and power outlet are connected to same breaker or something like that.

I dont believe in all this scientific mumbojumbo above! Ground wire, surge protectors and who is this "electrician" guy, sounds dodgey AF!

No no no, what you need is a supernatural cleansing of your house right away!

I have taken the liberty of googling some helpful steps below. All confirmed by a licensed spiritual cleanser. Number 5 is my favourite! Very effective

What you will need to do,

1. The first tip to remove a ghost from your home? Smoke out the spooks with some good ol’ sage!

2. Sage isn’t the only thing you can burn for a spiritual cleanse – white candles stave off supernatural spooks, too!

3.This next item isn’t meant for burning – it’s time to get to sprinkling! Dusting the entrance of your home with salt to keep the boos at bay.

4. Keep salt handy while placing this next item around your home: white roses! “White roses literally suck activity out of the house

5. This last tip won’t be a rosy experience for your ghostly houseguests: tell them to take a hike! “Stand in the place where they are active and say you are not welcome here, Then don’t bring attention to them.” That’s right – give them the cold shoulder by halting any spirit-summoning activities like seances or Ouija board parties. “This only feeds the unhappy spirits and makes them more active.” Not today, Satan!

That should do the trick, if not, "Who you gonna call?"

Creating a Conjuring vibe and then hitting us with a Ghostbusters ending. I wasn't ready for that 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I must say this seems like the best suggestion yet. Do i need to wear any specific clothing while carrying out the spiritual clensing?

Wear nothing but your belief
Yes, it is against the supernatural ghost code to look upon the genitals of a living being! If they do look they will be bound to that object for eternity like a genie in a lamp. If the lamp is rubbed a little ghost ectoplasm shoots forth! Thats how you know if you have a ghost trapped in your "Hoo Haw "

Yeah the crackling on the headset clearly illustrates an earthing issue.

Also possibly plugs and lights on the same circuit which they shouldn't be.

Remember some computers allow power to pass through the PSU, motherboard and out the USB ports without the PC being switched on. It's to allow charging of devices and so on if the PC is off. My PC was tossed out by Noah and even it has that feature. It's possible that you're just getting surges.

:( i dont want any surges lol...i shall be busy tonight with all the spirtual cleansing, thanks again @Cookie , and other "science mumbo jumbo" suggestions.

Hey bud. Like everybody has said an earthing issue. Extentions is the devils child when it comes to sensitive equipment. But the problem will probably be coming from your db already, make the house or apartment has been earthed properly and the earths aren't loose in the db. Send me a pm. I do electrical work part time and will be abke to help.

Howzt bud

Unfortunately by the time you had messaged i had already called out an electrician but thanks for the offer. Will keep you in mind for future reference.

A cheaper solution would have been to make use of a ground loop isolator :)

Costs around R150 and that would have solved the crackling issue with your HS.
