Here be the GPU - it is FHR & has never been used for mining #IpromiseSARS

Wondering if someone can help here - the GPU crashes in AOE3 DE, Warzone, &BO CW if I have the FPS limit higher than 60 & if using more than 50% of the VRAM (Warzone & BO CW specifically).

The GPU usage is low (less than 25%) - drops to zero & then a BSOD leading to a restart.

What I have tried - most recent Windows updates, not using any in-game overlays, done a DDU and the latest Nvidia drivers.

The weird stuff - no issues in older games (Dishonored 1 & 2) + the temps are well within reason (nothing higher than 65 C).

Anyone?

Do you have a spare power supply? I'd try that first.

I can't offer you anything in the way of advice except perhaps RMA. I can offer you an alternate solution though - sell it to me for the percentage of the VRAM it can use - so I'll take it for 50% off :D
Oh, I got it for R 32K (pray for me and the worst of the GPU price inflation).

Hmm - I don't but my HX 1200i is pretty solid.
Where are you in Jozi? If you're nearby we can maybe do some testing.

But yea, sounds like a power issue to me, or a faulty card.

Have you tried undervolting it to see if it solves it ?
If you got a defective one it might boost the clockspeed too high under low usage and cause instability issues.

I actually haven't even thought of that - through BIOS or the caca Palit app?

How long ago did this begin and what are your BSOD error codes? Also - can you use an overlay to check the clock freq it hits when you unlock the FPS?

I’m just going to go out on a limb and guess that that it’s a hardware issue. More than likely something to do with the card’s power delivery. The die itself could have maybe potentially been damaged by ripple, but I highly doubt that happened.

I don’t think it could be the BIOS unless you updated it or unless it was an issue since day 1. I would assume there aren’t issues in older games because less of the core is being leveraged and the card is occupying a lower boost clock regardless.

Afaik from some tidbits along the way, NVIDIA’s algorithm has P phases correlated to perceived load, thus the card will work allot power, voltage, and clock speed accordingly to the load (why MSI Gaming X/Z 3080s don’t mine properly).

My recommendation: if you were going to sell it as an FHR flip you would’ve done it months ago XD, just send it in for RMA and you’ll have a replacement in like 2 weeks. They’ll see the same issue. You’ll receive an LHR card but it is what it is.

Early June I believe - was fine before that.

A hardware issue does make sense - I have kept the BIOS up to date but have done nothing extreme with the card.

Agreed - the warranty is there for a reason and I might as well do a bit more testing & then RMA if I have no luck.

DDU in safe mode and uninstalled all GPU overclocking software before installing drivers?

If you Enabled XMP in your bios // Did you try disabling it ? and see if that helps

Hey bud, I just went through a similar thing with my 3070 ti, wasted A LOT of money troubleshooting and buying new parts (RAM, PSU, ect)

Do you have an 11th gen CPU and a 10th gen mobo?

It's because you kept fucken putting your blady D15(heatpipes down into the fans) on your gpu as a resting spot at Don :p You now deserve to give it to me because of your lack luster care :p

I have the same GPU. It works fine with a 5600x and 16GB ram (oc to 3000). No crashing.

Windows 10 latest version and latest nvdia drivers. FPS 144

I did not update to the resize BAR Bios.

Interesting - was before all that & could be the RAM (possibly).
