RDR2 coming 5th November to PC

Have a LG 34 ULTRAWIDE 144 HZ.
Zotac 1080ti
24GB 2666 Corsair Ram
DSR on, Nvidia settings.
At the moment, playing on 5120 x 2160 and it is buttery smooth.
Also detail much improved from native 1080p. DSR on definitely better IMHO. Sharper, more fine detail, awesome overall detail.
Fps, around 90 up and down depending on the scene. Don,t think the game is optimized yet............grrrrr.
Definite stuttering in some, (not all) cuts cenes, but sliding like a ghost on the higher resolution.
Water on high
Vsync off, Direct X 12 (but have to say, the same frames on Vulcan, but Vulcan more cut scene stuttering than DX)O
Long shadows off,
Trees etc on ultra or max
FXAA and MAA off, can, t see a difference with them on.
FPS improved after the latest almost 3gb update, BUT, I still have problems with the game scaling to Ultrawide, have to set it each and every time I start the game. It reverts back to Windowed mode, and some stupid res like 800x600........don,t know why.
Once in, I can play.
Like I said, small irritating things starting to spoil the fun I thought I was going to have with this game.
At the moment, love it when it works, and hate the fact that I spend money on it, when I have to solve the small nitty gritty stuff................

OK So the biggest problem was DX12. Does not scale to Full screen. When I go back to Vulcan, seems to work. Now I can at least get the game to open full scene. So anyone with the same problem, try Vulcan...........

Didn't see you replied, what's your screens model :)
The game crashed twice in an hour when I tried dx12 with nvidia's sharpening, cause TAA is great for getting rid of the shiimmering but makes it too blurry.
but went back to vulkan for now, would rather have that slight blur than crashes

For anyone who's still treaking their graphics settings.

This is by far the best guide so far to see what to change up or down.

Have a 34 inch Ultrawide, 144hz. I tried with Vulcan, but the stuttering is severe. Back to DX12, and doing the fullscreen settings every time. GRRRRR. I did my settings like the videos above, when the first one came out two or so days ago, but honestly, the game is broken. Definitely not optimized for smooth gameplay. I had to re start Poring forth oil 5 times, because I could not stutter the damn Oil wagon out of the complex. I had a few days of good gameplay, fairly high fps, but for some reason, after one or the other launcher etc update, the game does not play smoothly, unless I drop my res down to 2560 x 1080.

Game play was much smoother before this latest update.

The stuttering seems to come from certain CPUs, what CPU are you running?
a big patch from yesterday is said to have resolved the DX12 setting changing away from fullscreen.
They've also optimized lower than 6 core cpu's to better support quad core etc.

Can you give me a link to your monitor?

This monitor. Using Nvidia DSR, upscaled with 33% smoothness.
Intel i7 7700K overclocked to 4.2 with MSI Gaming Pro Carbon board. (Not manually overclocked, have no idea how to do it. Using the Auto overclock/boost feature on the Mobo)
3x 8gb Crucial Balistix 2400 Ram
I have done the Synccompute setting, with NO effect.

It is updating now, did not do so yesterday. Funny that it would be the exact 2.91gb as the previous update, do you know anything about that?

The update is probably the same because the areas that were changes are in same place as before meaning an entire section needs to be updated with new file or something, just guessing, but there is a long list of patch updates

I’m still lurking in the shadows but continually tempted to pull the trigger. Is it worth buying on PC yet? I’ll be playing at 1440p.

I've played like an hour or so, playing with some settings on high and ultra, it's OK,

Ok so bit the bullet with GMG thanks @Ron Burgundy

So on my PC I got 61.46fps avg on the benchmark

Everything max except for the following graphics settings did I dial down

Water refraction to medium
Reflection quality to high

TAA on medium was a preference I preferred and motion blur off

I'm still.in the snow stage and can't wait to get out of this area [emoji85]

Finally finished my first play through of the story.

Really enjoyed it with alot of twists along the way.

Now going to be doing the achievement's.

Bought the game 5th November.

Pretty much played every day for around 4hours jumping between actual story and side quests and herding sheep and causing nonsense in town.

And finished yesterday

So very good amount of content.

I did however make hardsaves before critical points which I later went back and played from to see different outcomes of the missions which I am glad I did.

But all in all was fantastic, once i fixed my issues with crashes.

But now the achievement's is next then Will give online a try

So about 60 to 80 hours?

Latest update fixed all the issues for me. Flawlessly on my Ultrawide 34 inch, with most settings on Ultra and High. Running like a dream. No crashes, no lag. Some stupid things like a beer bottle hanging in the air in front of a guy. Stagecoach falling from the sky, bouncing hard on the ground before I got out.... but heck, the graphics is absolutely jaw dropping. Anyone wondering if they should get this, YES, WORTH EVERY PENNY.

Around 36 hours of game play, but still in Chaplter 2. Been doing some silly things, keeping myself busy.......not in a hurry to get it over with.

I think I took 260 hours for SP when playing on the xbox, I finished almost everything though, just some missions that weren't done with gold rating.
Story and side quest alone won't take that long, it's when you focus on all the hunting, fishing, crafting etc that it can take allot of time, and then just screwing around by high jacking a train and driving in circles lol

That is exactly what I,m doing at the moment. Hunting, Fishing, and generally making a nuisance of myself everywhere. Running, hiding and being killed every now and again. :) This is not exactly a difficult game at all, but the content is crazy.

If anyone was holding out for the PC release on steam, it seems the prices are the same as on the rockstar store, so you would have been better off buying the game during the black Friday sale.
cd keys though seems to still have it at the past weekends price, best to grab it there if you wanted to buy it now

Just buy it from plati and use a free vpn? I bought it 2 weeks ago through plati and paid R480 for it.

yeah but do you have to launch the game via vpn and create a new social club account?
What if you want to play online etc?

Nope just activate it with a vpn on your normal everyday rockstar account. Everything else works normally.

ok, that a decent option then, as long as the keys aren't those types that were bought with stolen cc's and then resold

Eish, game is so good, and so much time, effort and money was put into it to give us a superb time, just buy it, support it and full price is still a huge bargain.
I have spent so much money on crappy games, with good advertising and hype. But for a couple of huge hiccups in the beginning, this one is worth every cent.
Support Rockstar, and we might get more awesomeness like this.

Rockstar is printing money. I'm sure we'll get more awesomeness regardless.

Yeah buy it for 1k, don't buy it for half price. They really need the money since they've only sold north of 27 million copies so far.

Nah, if you can buy it for half the price, cool. What i meant was I would rather pay the 1k for THIS game, than some of the other crappy games out there for the same price. And they sold 27 million because its a great game. To me, 1k is cool since I got to play it long before it got cheaper somewhere else, and it was hassle free. Pay, download, play.
