So I recently ordered a RAIN SIM to supplement my fixed LTE Telkom Contract. So I was looking at solutions to implement this.

The most elegant way would be through the use of a DUAL SIM router - however, I can't seem to find one of these.
The second would be to get a secondary router for my Fixed LTE to use during RAIN's peak hours - I was thinking this could be a pocket router as well.

But I'm just weighing up my options.

Also if anyone has advice regarding RAIN, you're welcome to drop it here as well.

Also looking for something similar but for use with telkom dsl and rain lte with a schedule for when what should be active

@MSI1104 can this be done with the tplink load balancing router you're using? Can you give more info on how to set up?

Yes it can. I found a guide on mybroadband. Let me make it clear. The tp llink has no wifi and you will need to disable your modems wifi as it wont make any sense then.
I then set up a wifi ap point so that we can have wifi. This is the best setup for me as it leads to minimal interference.

TP-Link TL-R470T+ 5 Port Multi-WAN Router - Wootware I went to the supplier directly and asked for the mybroadband discount... LOL finally got use out of that site.
Awesome, thank you sir!

So just to clarify - are you running two separate routers with service into this load balancing router?
Or does this router have SIM compatibility as well so that its just the load balancer and one other router which handles the separate connections from Telkom and Rain in your setup

2 Routers into it.

I am yet to see a router with 2 sim slots. I do know that routers with dual usb ports or 1 usb port and sim slot are available.

So maybe you can configure both the usb ports to work with 2 usb sim dongles or the sim dongle and a sim.

That is a solution. I guess until I get another router, I'm gonna be hotswapping my SIM cards into my router 😂

Don't see it mentioned in either thread but the Mikrotik hap lite works well for this too. It has built-in Wi-Fi that I don't see mentioned in the TP-Link TL-R470T+ specs and half the price.

would the ea-ac87 work aswell? similar as that tp link

that is a very good access point - 4x4 mimo - overkill for lte i believe considering the speeds we get. cant put a sim in that tho

i run a rain lte device with rain sim and b618 at home with another solution (still considering options on b618 tho)

can pick it up for 1.2k

so how would i connect my b315 routers to it? i dont see any inputs? only outputs?

why not get a b618-22d router - i changed from the b315 to this and works great.

you the i think 5ghz band aswell at decent speed you wont even get close to in real life

Sorry i was just being specific. There is another one i believe but thats the one i got.
Use rain mifi with rain uncapped buy that only use 2.4 ghz n- but it works

Whole how runs off wifi.
Chromecast 3rd gen on 55inch
Mygica 1900pro in room with 40inch
My destop with ac54 usb adapter

My new board has wife onboard so that cool too - 5ghz ac wifi.

Lte speeds are not close to use most decent router proper.

We make use of a billion that has 2 sim slots but its a dual sim sim that fails and only has 1 sim active at a time

So you have two rain mifi and then also the 618? Is the rain mifi connected to the 618? Or am i confused?

With fibre taking its toll and my frustrations with Telkom at an all time high, I've been toying with the idea of moving over to LTE over the past weeks. My only reservation being stability of my connection when streaming and gaming (also nat type). In all of the solutions above from my understanding, you need 2 devices at least? ie an LTE capable device and a wireless AP? I am also willing to pay somebody who would be able to tell me which devices I need and configure the whole thing for me.
