One of the most heartbreaking decisions you can ever make is to decide its time to put your beloved dog down

In 2017 she was diagnosed with one of the most aggressive cancers, Oral Melanoma cancer. We were told she wont survive in 3 months as stats shows that dogs with oral Melanoma die within the first 3 months.

In November 2017 we decided to take her in for surgery to remove the tumor, that was just after we had to put our other dog down due to age. He was 20 years old.

They successfully removed the tumor from her mouth. Beginning 2018, the tumor grew back but with even more aggression. By June 2018 it was literally the size of a golf ball if not bigger.

Yet again we didnt gave up and she went in for another surgery.

This time the surgery was extremely hard and took over 4h to complete. Dr.s managed to removed the golf ball size tumor but some remained around her teeth.

I then googled for hours trying to find alternatives I created a thread on carb for help. I cant remember the user who helped me but he recommended a company that sell CBD oil for dogs. I ordered it and started to use it on her.

I would say it definitely helped with the growth and pain.

We had no choice but as to put her down :( she was clearly suffering and she couldn't even stand when she was drinking water or eathing her food.

My heart is really sore that on this day I had to make the decision as to let her go and stay with her Papa

She gave me joy and happiness throughout at the years, from a toddler till an adult

I will be always grateful for her and blessed. I even helped with the birth of her

I will miss u surely allot Snippie

we had to put down a Chow because she was also getting some bad cancer around her leg and already had 3 ops

together with our oldest Labbie

were recommend someone that comes to your house and picks them up and then goes to put them down

worst thing ever to say goodbye and then have them loaded in those caged trailers along with some other dogs and as they drive off, you hear them crying

these times I just wish they could talk and actually tell us whether or not they are in pain :(

ofc it beats having to wake up 1 morning only to find that your Jackie drowned

So sorry to hear that That's exactly how I felt if she just could've tell me she is in pain or not. I dont mind taking care of an elderly dog till the day I die but I know the dog too well and seeing her like I did, I had no doubt that she was not happy. At least she is happy now and free from suffering.

It's now the second time I had to make this very hard choice but It needed to be done. My first dog, Wollie, Snippie's dad, was the hardest. He lived an amazing life for 20 years and Snippie 17 years. She survived almost 2 extra years from fighting the worse possible cancer. Even the vet were very surprised as they never had a dog that surprised 3 months without radiation treatment.

My heart goes out to people who has to make a decision like this

Shucks sorry man.
I thankfully haven't had to put anything down yet, they all died naturally overnight whilst still seeming to have acceptable quality of life before.
Well we did have one family dog to put down but I wasn't a fan of it so it wasn't a great loss to me. Oh yeah and when I was still a wee tyke my dad's Fox Terrier drowned in the pool, again not a big loss as the bastard bit me a few times.
I dread the day though. And sometimes think it's just not worth getting another dog after one passes to avoid it but then obviously always do.
