[Wanted] PS Vita or Other handheld for my Little Bro

So my Little Brother (Age 5) Loves games. He drives us crazy from playing on our mobiles. I thought I'd get him a nice handheld to game on easier and with fewer issues than getting him a mobile phone. But honestly, I don't know much about them or which one is the best value for money. It's probably been 15 years since I last jammed on what I think was a friend's PSP, So if you do have something or have some advice please PM or comment.

I would not recommend a PS Vita, they are lovely consoles, but games are expensive and difficult to find.
Maybe a Nintendo DS might be better suited.
