Project Revival (My return to the PCMR)

It is with great pleasure, that I finally announce my return to the PCMR, after a rather long (and painful) sojourn as a notebook noble [emoji23]

Some of the components are still undecided, but so far, the list looks as such (I will update this listing once some of the items have been purchased, or if anything gets changed):

That, as well as the fans/accessories have been ordered and will arrive sometime next week, or the week after. The storage, CPU and monitor will be arriving on the 10th of February, with the remaining components following between the 18th and 25th of February.

Gorgeous case. I have the older model (non-X) and it is a beauty, and with the X they solved all of the airflow qualms from the original case. Plus the lighting is even nicer. It's a pleasure to build in too and it has the vertical GPU mount if you're into that (although you will need to buy a PCIe riser cable separately I think). You won't regret it!

You have no idea how long I struggled and debated with myself before eventually settling on it 😂 It is absolutely stunning though, and I am sure I won't regret my decision to purchase it (I have also bought the riser cable as well, just in case I decide to do a vertical mount).

The Evolve X in my humble opinion is the best case on the market. It's a dream to build in, they thought of pretty much everything. Sure the airflow isn't the most amazing on the market but my temps on a delided 8700k@5ghz don't go above 60c during a Durban summer and 1080ti hybrid oc'd to 2075/5900mhz doesn't exceed 65c all while running practically silent.

At the last minute, I decided to change the PSU from the Seasonic Prime-TX 850, to the ASUS ROG Thor 850 for that sweet RGB goodness and the OLED live power readings. Too good of an opportunity to pass up on, especially considering that the Evolv X has a cutout to view the PSU

Well, the CPU cooler and keyboard arrived unexpectedly a few minutes ago (Amazon has really stepped up their game with DHL). I had no idea it was even out for delivery [emoji1787]

I managed to reserve stock of the 3800X locally. It should hopefully be ready for collection from Wootware (will thankfully be given credit for the 3700X I had already bought from them [emoji1787]) this Friday [emoji4]

There have been some complications. The motherboard I received from Amazon (Strix X570-E) was not sealed, and the anti-static bag inside the box was also open. I have lodged a return/refund for the board and have instead ordered an ASUS Crosshair VIII Hero (WiFi).

Some good news. The 3800X stock arrived sooner than expected, so I will be returning the 3700X later this afternoon and collecting the 3800X.

I collected the 3800X from Wootware yesterday afternoon, and sent the Strix X570-E back to Amazon's Return Centre in the US. The Crosshair VIII Hero (WiFi) should hopefully be shipped sometime today, and will likely only arrive next week.

Currently still attempting to source an ASUS Strix GTX 1080 Ti OC.

Yeah, I was surprised how quickly it arrived!

As for the TN panel, haters gonna hate Once some good Nano/IPS 144Hz (Or higher) HDR10 displays become available locally, then I will consider the transition. I didn't want to risk importing such an expensive monitor, without local warranty.

The GPU has now been sorted, and will be shipped on Monday next week. Getting a new ASUS Strix GTX 1080 Ti OC

As for the Crosshair VIII Hero (WiFi), that has just left Amsterdam earlier today, and should arrive in Cape Town sometime tomorrow. If luck is on my side, it may be delivered on Sunday, otherwise it should be delivered on Monday.

Well, it wouldn't be a build log without problems The Corsair AIO decided that it wanted to spill its guts... Thankfully, I tested it before attaching it to the board and CPU. I have filed a return and replacement with Amazon. Will send the cooler back via FedEx shortly, and then continue the build with the stock AMD Wraith Spire cooler to test the rest of the parts

Rather buy a ml360r Coolermaster. Had so many corsairs fail on me, wouldn't want them free anymore. Nice build so far.

Please let me know what the Sensei Ten is like. I have a Sensei 310 at the moment, and love the old Sensei shape, so don't know if it is worth getting a Ten, or just staying with the 310 at the moment.
