Hi all,

So with all the CUD'ing going on, I decided to give water cooling a try, I bought a Larkooler KU3-241 Extreme Cooling kit.

I then waited a while for it to get here from PPC (Thanks andrem & Solidsnake for all the help), then decided I wanted to upgrade the tubing to 1/2" ID and 3/4" OD.

I was initially going to wait until the new fittings and 1/2" tubing arrives before I install the kit, but once it arrived, I was so excited to install, so I got to work.

Set everything up and proceeded to do a leak test, first 30min went fine, and then... a steady stream of UV green liquid dripping onto the paper towels I thankfully put down.

So quite bummed I then took the whole system apart again, and tried to check where the leak is coming from, couldn't find it, so enquired with PPC about RMA'ing the kit, and it would've been more expensive to send the kit back, wait for a new one and have it shipped, so I did some research and saw some nice build logs on people modifying their 600T's to accommodate a 360 radiator at the top...

So... cutting one short story long, this is what I've decided to do:

I have bought an XSPC EX360 radiator, some fittings and 1/2" ID 3/4" OD tubing as well as a XSPC Raystorm CPU Block.

I initially thought I would run this with the larkooler res and 450l/h pump, but I have actually managed to repair the radiator (pics and description of repair here: CLICK HERE), so I'm going to be selling the whole kit (if the leak test is successful tonight) and then I'll be getting a MCP655 pump with pitspower bling bits and a cylinder style reservoir as well as some Gelid Wings 12 UV fans all round. :)

So without further ado, here's what I've done so far:

I bought some nice dremel rotary cutting discs and fitting and proceeded with modifying the top vent cover so long to make space for the 3rd fan or radiator (not sure which order I'm going to put it in yet - rad on outside or fans on outside).

The vent cover:

Nice video there Gumps!! :)

Shot Milkshake. Looking forward to the build.

I just phoned customs today, my box of PPC goodies is in SA. :) Just waiting for SAPO to send it down to CPT now, then I can start with the measuring and cutting of the case.

Will probably be another 2 weeks before I get the rest of my parts, as I managed to 100% seal the leak I had in the larkooler radiator, and that kit will be going up for sale now. :)

Will update as soon as I can.

Lekker mod bru! :D

Nice job buddy! :D Looks super!

Small update:

Bought a WHOLE bunch of CUDDIES from PPC again... should hopefully be here within the next 2 weeks. :D I'm also picking up my first PPC order goodies tomorrow. :D

I was initially thinking of going for a colour change of all blue, but my budget doesn't permit, so I was thinking of getting 4x Gelid Wing 12 UV green that will tie in with my build nicely, but $76 + $51 on shipping is WAY too much for fans, and I've already bought 2x UV blue Wing 12's, but needed another 2, so I've found a different solution. (Wings will go up for sale as soon as I get them).

I still had a Vantec UV green 120mm fan, and thought I'd just swap the blades of that fan with the 4x Blue Sickleflows I've got, but unfortunately the blades aren't compatible with the Sickleflows, but thankfully they are fine with standard 120mm plain black Cooler Master fans, only thing is I'll have to manually sleeve the cables, but tis okay, part of the fun. :D

So this is what I've come up with (Saves me around R800 instead of purchasing Gelids - Fine...I know Gelids are BAWS, but this will have to do for now):

The CM frame with the Vantec UV green blades:

In the case in some UV and Blue lighting:

Compared to the real deal:

Not too shabby methinks. Saves me ALOT of cash. :D

Will update again as soon as I get my other parts, if all goes well, this weekend it'll be time to strip my chassis bare and start the work for fitting the 360 rad. :)

So just got back from customs, got my box 'o CUDDIES. :D

Will update tonight when I've unpacked everything. :)

So got home from work yesterday, unpacked everything, started stripping down the case and got to work with the dremel.

I wanted to mount the radiator to the top of the case, and cut away enough for it to work, but unfortunately, the XSPC EX360 just doesn't want to co-operate, so the rad will be mounted inside the case with the fans sitting ontop.

But anyhow, here are some pics:

Test fitting the rad (GF learning to play CS source on her laptop in the back.. hehehe) :

I thought I'd leave it at that first and finish up tonight or over the weekend, connected my PC and checked if anyone was online for some BF3, but no-one was online, so I continued. :p

Masked up for cutting:

Cutting done:

As I cut too much off (as I said planned to place Rad in top section), I had to cut away the "pop up" spring for the top vent, but thankfully I kept it nicely intact and glued it onto a piece of "off-cut" plastic that I glued back on the case, once everything is in place it looks fine and I now retain the "spring" of the top vent cover.

Thanks shakes of milk. :D

The Enzotec fittings are basically sold now. I have ordered some Bitspower fittings instead (to go wiff the other fittings).

The tubing is VERY NAAACE!! Really impressed with how nice and flexible it is and they GLOW like a motha...... :D

Small update:

Got confirmation that my 2nd PPC batch is on it's way from JHB to CPT today, so it *fingers crossed* should be here next week sometime. :D

Main bits that I've ordered to complete my loop:

Alphacool VPP655 pump with D5 pumptop combo (Wanted the MCP655 & BitsPower bling, but it's damn expensive in comparison):

_52164_2.jpg

And EK-Mutioption RES X2 150 Advanced:

EK_MultioptionRESX2-150006134_m.jpg

Then I've got some smaller bits and bobs, Bitspower connectors, LED's, UV cathodes, etc, etc. :)

Can't wait!!!

Will update as soon as I can. :D

Nice going! :D
You can never forsee cutting something off that you might need later. happens all the time......
It really sucks that you can't get decent WC gear and fans in SA. Imports are just so expensive :(

@ Sarakon... Thanks for the comments bud.. I agree with you, real shame these parts aren't readily available in SA. :( I could have bought another 680 for the money I've spent on shipping alone over the last few months. :p

@ Milkshakes... It's a ballzup yes... like with the Larkooler radiator leaking, I could exchange it, but alas, would've cost more than just buying a new 240 rad, and then with CUD kicking in I got some more parts also. :p

HOPEFULLY should be getting my stuffs tomorrow or for the latest Friday, then I can finally assemble my system and start clocking my CPU!!! :p

Update:

Stuff was actually ready at the SAPO yesterday already, but I managed to collect my box o' cuddies today!!! :D

Stuffs I got:

So tonight, assembling and leak testing!!! :D

yeah,i think assembly is probably the the second most fun i have with my cuddies, using them being the most(only just.)

I love assembling components. And shiny new things are awesome! Good luck!

Update time:

This week has been absolutely bonkers at work. :(

But in between the little sleep and work I managed to finally complete the build last night!!!

Forgot to show the sleeved fan cables last time. had some spare pieces laying around, so I made due with what I had:

20120630_124537.jpg

Also forgot to show you some tech pr0n.. 680 SLI.. :p Used Sn00zE's card to test. Performance is insane, but running anything less than a 3 screen setup is a waste as a single GTX 680 runs fine, FOR NOW.

20120630_112750.jpg

So back to the build:

Unboxed everything, started playing around with layout when I got home from work on Thursday around 22:30 and found the layoot I like and proceeded with test fitting and cutting the tubing.

I only worked on that until around 1am on Thursday evening (i.e. Friday Morning), then was at work again at 06:20 yesterday to finish up some things before our staff buffet lunch. Thankfully our lunch finished at around 15:00 so I went home and continued on the build.

I started with mounting the EX360 rad and mounting the fans:

20120713_175832.jpg

I then sleeved the cables of the VPP655 pump and replaced the white 3pin connector with a black one for the pump monitoring.

Then proceeded to lay the pump out, drill some holes and screw the pump to the case.

20120713_175846.jpg

I then started with the Reservoir, drilled the holes and fitted (still need to cut away a small piece of plastic from the mounting clip for the rear piece of the case as the reservoir bracket is a bit skew, but thankfully it's barely noticeable once everything is on and in the case. :)

20120713_175839.jpg

I then applied thermal grease to the CPU after cleaning it off nicely with an alcohol swab:

20120713_182358.jpg

I then connected the Raystorm CPU waterblock and routed the LED cables nicely so that it's not in the way or too noticeable and then connected all the tubing and prepared for a leak test:

Splitting post...

My KillCoils hidden out of sight. :p

20120713_194344.jpg

Filled the res up, and started with the filling/bleeding process... the bleeding was quite a pain in the behind... took quite long getting all the bubbles out, but once it was done, I was AMAZED at how quiet and how little vibration comes from this pump... even though it's running at full speed (1200l/h). :)

So whilst the system was getting settled and running, I fitted the UV cathodes and tested the effect:

20120713_223304.jpg

The cabling madness I still had to tidy at the back and testing using a spare old PSU:

20120713_224410.jpg

So after tidying everything up I moved the PC to the front of my house to leak test overnight, and thankfully all is well, also added my Mayhem UV green dye and I and H deadwater drops.

So here is the final look of the case for now (Must say, the lighting looks SUPER bright in the pics, in real life it's much more subtle and "aesthetically pleasing")

Hope you like!!

I sure am enjoying the look as well as the excellent CPU temps. :p I runs from around 7deg to 19, then back to 7 then up to 19, etc.. Load, on stock frequencies was around 32deg, will start overclocking at testing soon.
