It will use a thunderbolt connector from the Egpu enclosure to the laptop. Generally, a thunderbolt connection would manifest as a USB C connector. So in essence you can uses this as an external graphics cards that can bump up your graphical performance and simultaneously charge your laptop.

You'd need Thunderbolt 3, it looks almost identical to USB C, but is a different standard and much faster.

I'd also like to know how it works. And what the max GPU is that I can run

It has a 550W PSU with 2x 8pin PCIe power connectors. I think I read it is rated to handle cards upto 375W TDP so basically anything. RTX 2080ti should be NP

No stress, Just make use your thunderbolt connection has all 4 lanes giving it a 40 gigabit connection for the best results 😎

Im googling the sh!t out of this now man. will check my laptop later tonight if it has this. i really love the idea

So I buy this, fit a GPU and plug it into my MSI dragon edition and away I go?
Theoretically yes.... your mileage may vary though. Again it depends on the laptop and how it manages its Thunderbolt connection.

Hmm my GTX675mx is taking strain these days. Let me do some reading

I somehow doubt this unit will have a thunderbolt 3 port on it bud

Ya I think Skylake is the earliest you'll find with TB3, that's 2015 at best. Your laptop is 2012 I think? But still if you prefer laptops then this might be a good route going forward as you wont run into the same aging GPU problem as quickly.

Hi, is the Egpu still in CPT or do you have it in Randburg? Im based in Cpt

@JollyJamma

Also seeing as there's so much interest in this there's actually another one currently available in anOTHER component section. I reckon this one is nicer though.

Someone is coming to look at it tomorrow, but if he doesn't take it I might be able to arrange to have it in CT by the 1st July

Lol all that interest and now price drops. Sheesh Carbies can be a fickle bunch.
