Good morning guys,

I have a western digital external that i need to recover some data from. When i plug the drive in i get tik tik tik tik tik, as if its not getting enough power to spin up and keeps resetting. It is a Western Digital passport, probably around 6 or 7 years old, has the circuit board that is directly wired for USB, not a usb-sata converter on laptop hdd.

Model of drive: WD10JMVW

Anyone have any advice or solutions I could try without having to send it for data recovery?

Thanks peeps

Put the hard drive in an air tight bag and in the freezer for 10-15 minutes. Then make sure there is no condensation and plug into PC quickly and copy as much as you can, then repeat until its fully dead or you have the info.

Thank Greeking, so you reckon its a head crash and not a board issue?

When my hdd went tik tik tik it worked :) upto you, we all assume no responsibility for advise given [emoji14] hahaha but good luck (if done correctly, the freezer causes no harm)
