Hi all,
Looking at building a friend a i7-8700K machine with a Gigabyte AORUS Z370 Gaming 7. It's for audio post production for film and TV.
But. Thunderbolt. It has USB C ports and headers but Thunderbolt is only supported via the Gigabyte Alpine Ridge add-in card, which is not available anywhere but overseas on eBay. Yet the board still has the TB header. Lame-O.
Basically he wants a Mac Pro killer (hackintosh) and to trick it out to the max but it seems he needs Thunderbolt. Are there no PCIe add-on cards that will work besides Alpine Ridge? I can't believe there aren't any standardised PCIe Thunderbolt 3 cards out there. Or that PC motherboards at this point do not support the protocol.
Suggestions are appreciated.
Cheers
