Good day people of Carb,

I recently got a Hyundai i10 and I'm looking to give the sound a bit of a boost. Now I'm not looking for something that will shatter my neighbors windows. I'm just looking to get some of that nice doof doof and clarity.

My budget is around R2500? and i have no idea where to start looking nor what brands are good on a budget. The car also as a teeny tiny battery and I'm not to sure if that will affect anything.

This is the head unit i have ( Jebson Touch Screen Media Player | Cash Crusaders ). I will update what plugs it has at the back later tonight when i get home.

If I need to add something please feel free to let me know. All help is appreciated

Thanks

Hi Bud, I would first check what the car came with, then try changing the stock speakers for something better seeing that the player supports 50w per speaker. If that still doesn't do it for you then look at adding onto it.

+1 probably door speakers atm I guess.
That budget is really low for adding on, a good amp is around that price also don't go look at those insane power outputs by funny brands always look at RMS output.
Does aftermarket audio/electrical mods not void the warranty?
I don't believe so, unless you really mess with the wiring (just a logical guess here)?
You'd need to check with the dealership I guess? The car has a alternator for a standard config, pull too much power then something blows, they'll probably pin it on you...

It should take either 5" or 6" speakers. I'd go with some JBL speakers. They are affordable and provide decent sound over factory speakers. You should get away with around R1,600 for four speakers.

You can also build your own spacers with a jigsaw and some plywood off cuts from your closest builders. Make sure you place some rubber and/or silicone behind the spacers when mounting to eliminate the distorting sounds from vibration.

If you do not cut any wires your warranty should be fine.

5 1/4" door speakers, bog standard JVC 2 ways should be fine for the doors. Around R400 per set of 2 at HiFi Corp.

That will definitely make a massive difference already. My advice though is to not cheap out on the deck. You buy cheap, you get cheap, and your sound quality will be as low as the quality of the deck you install. I made the mistake of starting out one of my builds with a R350 chinese bluetooth enabled deck, sounded crap, then upgraded to a decent Pioneer deck and boom... Sounds like a dream.

Autostyle have a decent bluetooth enabled Pioneer for R1250

Then save cash for a few months and get either a 10" sub for smooth tight bass that doesn't burst your eardrums, or a 12" for a bit more rumble. Personally I have 2 x 15", but that's because I'm originally from Durban and should have been born Indian not Jewish 😂 also, I drive a land rover so I actually have space for them 😉

Thanks for all the help guys. Closing for now. I'm gonna go with the speakers and if it's not enough I'll add bit by bit every month
