Pit bike resurrection!

Shiiiit
I'll let you know a bit later if i can help with a drillbit.
Thanks mate,

Another guy from Carb lives a couple KMs from me and is willing to help so should be able to get it sorted this week or weekend. If not I'll give you a shout.

Got the hole drilled and the brakes mounted. Needs some adjustment, the angle is slightly wrong so the cylinder isn't returning properly after depressing the brake, but it does work.

The bike is now 100% complete (in terms of what I'm going to do to it) so I'll be putting her up for sale this weekend.

Then to get started on the WR250Z (this is a complete build basically, frame has handlebars and forks attached. Swingarm too but that will come off.

I'll try post a video of this pitbike monster in action, the power is truly something to behold. Must be a good 10 horsepower, or 25 mulepower which is the preferred term.

If you were closer I could have cut the drill bit shank on the lathe for you :)
Appreciate the offer man.

So I can't get this thing running. I've tried every single possible combination of settings on this carb (and a few that never existed before, I had to invent them) and it just won't start. The positive is it has helped me realize just how woefully unfit I am; I think I had 3 strokes, a heart attack and a mild epileptic episode from kicking and push starting the thing so many times.

There's spark, compression, air and theoretically fuel. So I'm going to buy a new carb and be done with it. Spoke with a guy who repairs these for a living and he said with these, he'll tune it once or twice. If still no dice, just replace as they're relatively cheap and it's more effective than speaking in tongues trying to get it to work. More money, but at least I save a leg.

Other than the fact she doesn't run, she's in perfect shape now.

Might be that cone you've got on.

Generally, carbs will have an airbox not a cone. Switching to a cone is fine but 99.9% of the time reguires rejetting.

You'll likely need to go up a size or 2 on your main jet to accommodate the increased air intake.

If she's running too lean it might be the cause of your issues, which a new carb isn't gonna fix

Thing is, these pitbikes come with the cone, there is no airbox. I did get a new cone because the other one was vrot. Could certainly be a jetting issue, but that's also solved with the new carb. It's old now so a new one wouldn't be amiss anyway.

Once you get it running, GET RID OF IT!

I have never seen anything frustrate anyone more than a fkn POS Pit bike. And they are ALL POS.

We used to laugh every time we went riding at Terra Topia etc. The okes with the most dejected looking youngsters, and the most frustrated looking fathers, all had pit bikes. Work fine last week. This week nada. Work fine for 30 minutes, kid comes back & has a break. Try start it again: Nada.

There are less strenuous & stressful ways to disappoint your lightie than buying the a pit bike! :ROFLMAO:

Excellent news!

I got a new carb and gasket!

Bike still doesn't run :D

Anyone free this weekend to help me unalive? I'll pay.

Are all boots between filter, carb etc good? No cracks? Literally saw something similar on YouTube on the weekend and it came down to cleaning the carb and sealing the crack that was allowing too much air in and the bike went from dead to running.

Brand new filter with boot, and then the other side bolts straight onto the intake with a gasket (also new).

Beginning to suspect there might be an engine issue though I don't see how. It ran fine before, I just didn't have brakes attached and the carb needed tuning (which I never managed to get right, hence the replacement).

I'm going to open up the new carb and check everything, clean it out etc. Should be fine but it isn't so, who knows.

Is there fuel in the float bowl? Not sure about this bike, but mine doesn't have an off position on the fuel tap it has a vacuum line to the fuel tap and uses engine vacuum to enable the fuel flow. Problem is if the float bowl is empty, it can't run so no vacuum, so there is a 'prime' position on the fuel tap to force it open in that instance.

The petcock has an open and closed position and fuel runs through to the carb engine without issue. Float bowl gets full (even flooded when I'm frustrated) so it is getting fuel.

An update on the resurrection,

@Plaas_Haas sold me what he dubbed the "Lucky Chicken".

I stripped her and gave her a clean and a paint. A friend's mom sewed a new seat cover which looks legit.

Now to get her started again, she sat for a couple months so had to clean the carb again and possibly flush the old fuel. Nearly turned over this morning but leg got too tired and it's stupid hot.

Who knew that all the little bike needed was to get out of fourways?
