Was a bit long winded and difficult to put into words lol.
You think? lol The kitten I took in was under 3 weeks old according to to the vet. The first week I spent 3k at the vet. Then she needed antibiotics for 21 days... The other cat was 11 weeks old (same as her) when I got him. He had been part of a family and if the shelter had a card machine I would have taken his brother too(deal with wife later). My post was specifically about younger pets though..

Since I constantly show everyone photos of my money pit dog at the office, might as well post here.

1.5 years now, ~65kg and eats me out of the house... was a poorly thought out gift for the GF.
Wouldn't change anything though :)

Corgi owner reporting in. Such loveable goofballs. Loads of photos, but we don't have kids so you know how it goes...

My first Corgi was the runt of the litter, originally thought to be stillborn. They managed to resuscitate her though and being the runt of the litter I naturally gravitated towards her. Called her Ember, as she was tiny but had a fiery personality right from a pup.

Unfortunately, when I first moved out my place wasn't large enough to accommodate her, my mom ended up bonding with her so much that we decided she should stay there. I visit her regularly though

My next 2 were rescues, both 10 years old. They were of the same father, but a different mother. Chino (short for cappuccino) and Toffee (short for tofflux) were flown in from JHB as the owners went through a separation and couldn't keep them.

These two really brought me out of a rough patch in life, but unfortunately, both passed away within a week of each other 7 months later. Toffee passed away in her sleep during the night, while Chino passed away in my arms.

It turns out both had a very rare genetic cancer that is undetectable by blood tests or scans, and only a very specific test can pick it up (and not something a vet would do until it was too late).

For my birthday every year, instead of gifts we set up a donation box which I donate to the shelter that helped me get them down to Cape Town.

A few weeks later, out of the blue I got a call from a breeder that I spoke to a long time ago, saying she had a Corgi puppy that the owner no longer wanted because the tail had been docked. I'm strongly against the docking of the tails, but my wife felt it would be good for us to open our home to a new one.

Ellie is now our CWO (Chief Wellbeing Officer)

She has since quit smoking

My turn. Bubbles, aka Poepsie was found walking along the road, no owner, must have been about 2 months when we found her and took her home. Looked super cute when we picked he up

But then she turned into this! Taken a few months ago chilling on the bunk bed

BUT, she is still our little princess. Totally lost when my son goes away for a few days. POEPSIE FTW!

Newest addition to our family, Leica (aka Dumb-ass-ius) the GSP. She is now 8 months old.

They are a high energy and drive breed, incredibly intelligent (think we got the factory reject, hence the nickname), but so lovable. Real velcro dogs that don't like being away from people and amazing with my two boys.
