So I have a buddy who has a very strange issue.

His PC seems to restart when not under load, but is 100% and can game for hours when PC is under load.

Any idea what might be causing this?

Tried different PSU and plugs as I thought some kind of power relating thing might be causing this. But does not seem to have solved the problem.
Will be testing other hardware soon.

Can some kind of CPU voltage issue be causing this perhaps?

Up the vcore and have a look, cpus tend to need higher voltages on low load to be stable, just a thought really?

Probably won't fix it but worth a try lol.

Kernel power 41
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first

Hey mate.

So seems that can be causes by a few things (started asking Q's in our reseller support portal with MS.
  1. Update your drivers
  2. Disable duplicate audio drivers
  3. Uninstall your antivirus
  4. Change your power settings (hard disk turn off after > Never)
  5. Turn off Fast Startup (power button options)
  6. Update your BIOS (latest vendor stable version)
  7. Check your hardware (usually RAM or PSU)
  8. Uninstall recent updates (Windows version patch upgrade, some ppl have issues with last update, also think of when it started and see what updates installed this includes KB updates too)
  9. Disable Auto-restart in the Advanced System settings
