Hi guys/girls,

So I am planning to get married in August but I have no idea what the average cost is for a Pastor to marry a couple.

What did you pay for your Pastor?

I just want to get an average so that I know how much I need to save.

Regards,

"One Fallen Soldier"

if she recalls corectly, R4500.
thats for the service on the day, and submitting docs to home affairs.

Haha @dash09 its already sold 😅

@AceSwiftShooter thanks, its it's around the same amount that our Pastor is asking.

I'm a Gaming Pastor and accept 1 x Gaming PC per Wedding Ceremony performed.

Notes:
I help fill Filling Out the Marriage License.
After Ceremony Duties includes a few minutes after the ceremony to socialize and a decorative marriage certificate commemorating your big day.

Extra:
I do offer some Gaming Pastor training and can provide you with an Emergency Wedding Set to getting you ordained if you simply don't have the time or money to pursue formal training.

Sorry, I only do RGB Gaming pastors.

as for OP - We used a service in Pretoria (Moot area around) there is a lady that does marrying and collecting everything from home affairs, if you want her info you can let me know, I can't exactly remember the cost, but you can always reach out to her if she is in your neighbourhood.

Very good price. But how was the service when you had issues or RMAs?

He did try to get us to do communion on the day, with wine n crackers, but I sad we never agreed to it, so we didn't do it.

He also spoke at length using camping metaphors during the marriage ceremony, so he definitely had a factory defect which affected his "Giving a shit about camping metaphors" setting.

Let's hope she doesn't make you sell your pc for what you told her you paid for it

I'll do it for free. I am not a Pastor though, but am ordained to perform marriages as part of the Humanist Society.

I didn't pay extra. But it was a weekend destination wedding and we paid for the accomodation and food of course. So he got a free weekend for an hours work.

We need to ask the legal guys here, but charging for a marriage is technically illegal.

According to the Civil Union Act (2006), “14(2) Any marriage officer who demands or receives any fee, gift or reward for or by reason of anything done by him or her as marriage officer in terms of this Act, shall be guilty of an offense and liable on conviction to a fine or, in default of payment, to imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months.”

Oh, and this counts for the Marriage Act as well:

32. (1) No marriage officer may demand or receive any fee, gift or reward, for or by reason of anything done by him as marriage officer in terms of this Act: Provided that a minister of religion or a person holding a responsible position in a religious denomination or organization may, for or by reason of any such thing done by him, receive―

(a)
such fees or payments as were immediately prior to the commencement of this Act ordinarily paid to any such minister of religion or person in terms of the rules and regulations of his religious denomination or organization, for or by reason of any such thing done by him in terms of a prior law; or
(b)
such fee as may be prescribed.
(2) Any marriage officer who contravenes the provisions of sub-section (1) shall be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding one hundred rand or, in default of payment, to imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months.
