@Heinrich_ZA if he doesn't respond, I'd recommend opening a case of fraud at SAPS. Get the bank account frozen and report him. This is not on.

EDIT: Heinrich, I'd recommend you consider that SAPS case anyway. His IP jumps between PTA and JHB and CPT. I get hits on his number on Gumtree, but that's about it. I smell fish here.

Why did it take this long and lead to so much trouble and effort? You could've just checked the account number on the Pop and the one you provided him on whatsapp? Literally takes 30 seconds

That was aimed at @ChinaNum#1 - he must have quoted you by accident.

For everyone else - all the decent banks can verify POP telephonically and within a few minutes. All you need is the account number, POP reference, amount and date. I do this often with FNB, Standard Bank, Nedbank, Invested and Absa. For some reason Capitec is incapable of verifying until it clears.

Great, you’re a quarter of the way there. The other three things are to answer @Toxxyc , the money to clear, and after all that is said and done, make your own account. Unlike the mistake you made, it’s free.

2. Can you trust your mother?
3. Confirm those details you sent to @Heinrich_ZA now, post a screenshot of the details here.
4. Who's account are you using, and how old is the owner of this account?

Additionally, I don't believe it's your brother's account. There has only ever been one cell number shared with that account, and it's been the same one. Or are you using his phone as well?

Then keep this one and tell your brother to create a new one. Simplest option, IMO.
