The company I work for has a position opening up in the start of 2022, this position will be site based for a tech that knows their stuff and can run with the site (they will have 2nd Tier Support Remotely) This is a nice position for someone who likes managing their own site with a set routine. SUITABLE CANDIDATES:​

The Site Based Technical Support position will be suitable for the more experienced candidate in the L1/L2 space.

In short, we are looking for someone with a CompTIA A+ and N+ along with a Driver’s License and a finger on the pulse of the tech out there. We are looking for a passionate candidate that needs a foot in the door with an established company.

It is really important to note that we need someone who is fluent in Afrikaans for this position and can from an engaging, meaningful conversation with customers and co-workers)

The more skills the candidates have from the Ad-hoc list the better for the candidate.

POSITION DETAILS:​

POSITION TITLEIT Technician - Onsite
LOCATIONOffice based at the clients site in Centurion. (Office Park)
ATTENDANCEFull time, normal office hours. (8am – 5pm)
EXPECTED REMUNERATIONThe remuneration will be experience and qualification dependent.
Expected Package Range R15 000 – R20 000 CTC.

PURPOSE:​

In the capacity of IT Technician the role requires skilled technical support for customers in a highly visible role. Based on the information provided in the support tickets the IT Technician will either accept and resolve the ticket, or identify it for escalation to the relevant team for resolution. In addition, the candidate will assist with the sales cycle where required.

The primary objective of the role is to provide first time resolution. This will be achieved by troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving faults at the first point of contact or providing the ground work for escalating the fault to the designated escalation point to further investigate and resolve.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL/PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE​

  • Grade 12 Senior Certificate
  • Current A+ and N+ or equivalent Certification
  • Microsoft Certifications (Systems Administration, Azure etc)
  • Industry relevant Experience in email/phone/onsite troubleshooting will be an advantage.

ADHOC SKILLS REQUIREMENT:​

  • Must be familiar with networking, installing and configuring network switches
  • Able to install and maintain network cables / fiber optics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows operating system maintenance including new installations Windows 7 , 8 , 10 and later
  • Must be able to install / replace current and new hardware for desktop computers / laptops
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows Server 2012R2 and later
  • Proficient with VMWARE and virtualization of Servers
  • Familiar with blade servers , install and maintain.
  • Proficient with VLAN setup and configuration
  • Proficient with Cisco Meraki security devices
  • VoIP phones and Elastix Server.
  • Unifi ubiquity network controller and access points , install and maintain.
  • Synology NAS maintain and replacement of current hard drive stack.
  • Good understanding or RAID configurations
  • User access and privilege escalation in Microsoft Server
  • Setup and maintain Backup systems
  • Office 365 proficient (Administration)
  • Proficient with Office 2013, 2016 , 2019 software clients
  • Setup AD / Mail accounts on local AD and sync to Azure active directory
  • MFA protocols for Office 365
  • SIEM system setup and maintain (Eset NOD32 antivirus)
  • Good understanding of UPS / maintain
  • Proficient in working with Microsoft Teams
  • Proficient in working with Zoom
  • Proficient in working with Anydesk
  • Proficient in working with Remote desktop for Microsoft Windows
  • Communicate with managers when staff are not able to work and come up with a plan as to not keep the staff member off productivity.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft PowerShell and basic scripting
  • Setup of printers and plotters
  • Order any supplies for printers and plotters
  • Mange SLA agreements with partners
  • Good understanding of MTU packet sizes for VPN connections
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP / UDP protocols
  • Basic understanding of Citrix client software and how to setup
  • Basic understanding of Bentley / CAD Software (install and configure)
  • Basic understanding of Revit / CAD Software (install and configure)
  • Basic understanding of Usmart / CAD Software (install and configure)
  • Good understanding of Softlock licensing procedures
  • Basic understanding of HikVision CCTV cameras and software install and configure methods
  • Basic understanding of Impro access management software and hardware
 
As an onsite IT L1 technician, this is demotivating to see.

Was planning on leaving KZN for good in 2023 but this shows me the pay there is just as rough as down here.
Ek is afrikaans en perfek vir die posisie, maar die salaris sal beteken dat ek nie kan oorleef daar nie.

Hoping to see more posts for onsite technicians coming though.
