Hi all[emoji868]
So I would like to find out if I would be able to use an old router as a reapeter.
My current house WIFI is a D-Link DIR-825 and the router I'd like to use is a D-Link DSL-G2562DG.
The aim is to put one down stairs in my garage so I can connect my mining rigs directly through ethernet.I wount be able to connect the routers to through an etherent cable so would greatly appreciate if some one could assist me in creating a bridge wirelessly between the two of them.

This should be doable, most ADSL routers can be set up as a repeater of some sort, however, I do not have access to one so I can't check out the Software. On some, it is as easy as checking a box and typing in the wifi password. Look for "repeater" or "access point" settings around those should give you an idea.

My duplicate router its Farley easy but my main router says nothing of the sort, its so complicated

Okay hold up.

Your main router, it will be broadcasting the main WiFi that you will be using? Thus it should not care about what repeats that signal, as long as the device has the correct passkey.

So you should only really have to check your secondary(repeater) router for the settings.

In theory, you only need to set up the D-Link DSL-G2562DG as a repeater (if it supports the functionality) there is no setup needed on the existing router

Tried that and didn't work so did research.Found out both need EDS bridge active,DHCP server on,second router need same ip and the list goes on

If anyone is willing to run through it with me I'd really appreciate that

Really hard to say without having access to the interface.... is there a fucntionality that specifically reads (repeater) on the secondary router? like the man above said in theory the secondary should only pick up the network and connect to it. The research you did points more toward a bridge than a repeater.... i can try and help (just note i'm no network expert)

Does your interface look anything like the 1 in this video?

So if I were you I would say try stay away from bridging, but rather focus on the repeater side of things as that would provide your hardware with the access they need too.

If you have one machine that has internet access and is also connected to the secondary router, we could try login remotely and check out the settings for you, with teamviewer or the like. But try get the secondary to simply just work as a repeater, also, why can you not do a cable?

So do i need to connect my repeater to my current router,to the wifi box or to the pc only?

So currently I've gone in to Basic Setup->LAN->IPv4->Enable DHCP Relay

Still can't connect wirelessly, says no internet

Okay so... you need not worry about relays or anything when setting up a repeater, not usually anyway. The repeater will not do any routing, simply pass packets along to the next node.

What IP range/network does each router use? If they are the same, then connecting them together or both to the PC will cause IP Conflicts and routing issues, so if they are the same then just connect one at a time to your PC so you can configure each seperately. If I am to remote into your PC so I can access the router, then the PC would need internet, and your PC would have to be hooked up to the router(repeater) too, so if you want me to do that then you'd have to make sure they are on different networks, such as 192.168.1.1 for Router 1 and 192.168.3.1 for router 2(if you need to change one, change router 2 as router 1 is probably in use). We are getting into a very technical area here, networking can be tricky.

If you have it set up so that you have internet from the Main router and access to the admin for router 2, then we can always have you share your screen on Discord then we can guide you.

Okay so I could not get it set up, the main router does not support WDS and the other router(to act as a repeater) does not have any other option besides WDS.
